Getting Started with Guided Setup
Guided Setup allows admins to easily configure any product or application that includes a Guided Setup module. With this feature, organizations can efficiently plan and execute the roll-out of a product, performing essential configurations to ensure a smooth launch of the application.
The Store version of Guided Setup is built on the Next Experience UI Framework and allows admins to create their own Guided Setups. To create your own Guided Setup, or see the products that are using the new Guided Setup, in the All menu navigate to Adoption Services > Guided Setup.
The Store version of Guided Setup has the following features:
- Step-by-step task process to complete configuration of product(s)
- Work on the pre-checklist before starting the setup
- Install dependent plugins from within the guided setup
- Complete table form actions
- Complete iFrame actions
- Read article/documentation applicable for setup
- Refer to videos relevant for the setup
Prior to San Diego, Legacy Guided Setups were built on AngularJS and shipped with a family release version. Some of our products may still have Legacy Guided Setups which are still applicable and suggested for use, such as the Knowledge Management Guided Setup, etc.
Guided Setups released from ServiceNow enable admins to step through the initial configuration of any product or application that provides a Guided Setup module and assists with planning the roll-out of the product and performing basic configuration.
Guided Setups walk through modules of configuration from basic to more advanced capabilities and track your progress along the way. Categories provide information, such as planning, guidance, pre-setup steps, and links to useful help content as well as links to where the configuration is performed.
The Store version of Guided Setup enables Customers and Partners to build configurable, dynamic, and repeatable guided setups.
Users with the admin and Setup Help Setup Admin (sn_help_setup_admin) roles can create or modify Guided Setups (not Legacy).
