Richard Murphy
Head of thought leadership research
Richard is the editor in chief and director of thought leadership publishing at ServiceNow. A journalist and social anthropologist by background, he leads an editorial team that studies the impact of emerging enterprise technologies on business strategy and the future of work. Murphy started his journalism career as a war correspondent in Afghanistan. He went on to cover tech and business for numerous national media outlets, including Fortune, the New York Times, BusinessWeek and the Wall Street Journal. Murphy launched ServiceNow�s award-winning Workflow publication. He currently oversees daily publishing across a dozen editorial channels around the globe that collectively reach an audience in the hundreds of millions. Murphy studied comparative literature at Harvard and social anthropology at Oxford, where he earned a doctoral degree based on ethnographic fieldwork in urban Pakistan.
