I was once a spelling bee champion and I still consider myself excellent when it comes to spelling, but I have just been blown away by this article:

What does this have to do with ServiceNow? I think there are quite a few of you out there who, like me, thought ServiceNow had simply misspelled the state of the incident, or wait was it service catalog? Some of us even went so far as to rename the state display value.

The point of this article is to issue a warning to developers, especially those doing a lot of integrations, don't change the display value for any reason. If you feel you must, first do a global search on 'Canceled' and see how many BR's, SI's and client scripts refer to the display value of 'Canceled'.
