with surface now app engine and the now platform capabilities it is easy to create workflow driven applications for example here I have created a parking reservation app and I've added a dashboard with reports to it the core of the application is a table and the table is extended from tasks so in service now the task table can be reused and extended for custom application and it brings a lot of fields that are very common to use in workflows so here we've added a few fields on top of it for example the arrival and departure times a name and license plate of the car that is expected so we can also select here add to service catalog in this case I've already done so and when I go to the service portal and I type in parking here I can select it and I only need to fill in a few fields there I will submit the records and I can see that the record is created in service now and for from here I can go back to the classic view and I will see that the record is created here so this in itself can be done by a citizen developer and would mean big improvement against compared to for example email or Excel based process but if we want to take it a step further we can also do that and I will show my camera and what I have here is a device connected to service now we have a camera and what this does it will scan every few seconds and when I get a picture in front of it now we see this is a bit small the number plate has been posted to service now and it is recognized against this reservation so now the state of the reservation is set to arrived and actual arrival date is automatically filled in this logic is done using a flow designer flow so we have a trigger and if it's not arrived we will set it to arrived and when I show my screen you see that an email notification has been sent as well into there to the host so and now when the visitor would leave again we can go back to the tickets and skin the number plate again should be recognized in a few seconds this was not a right number so now it picked up the right number and it says goodbye mr. visitor and in the platform we see that the state has been updated to departed and the actual departure is also filled in so and now we when we check the related list it has two items each license plate scan has been locked so for an audit trail when I open the item here we see the the the picture that the device has taken and it's it marked the area where the license plate is found so it's all traceable and it can be easy to create the basic app by a citizen developer and from there if there is more demand we can hand it over to low or pro code team and really improve efficiency so if you would like to know more about this about the inner workings of this little device feel free to reach out and I'll be happy to share thank you
