hi everyone and welcome to another episode of the witch doctors guide to service now we are up to episode number 22 and I have been thinking of doing this for a couple of weeks now and finally got time to do it today we're going to talk about the new functionalities in contextual search for Madrid release and I know it's been a while since Madrid was released but finally I got time to do this video even if you're thinking about New York this will still be there so hopefully it will be some good news for you guys anyway let's see if I can get my column point working you go my name is Igor language take a Jewish doctor been doing some videos now for quite some while been working with service now for about five years of things now been everything from a customer to a partner and now I'm working for service now themself as a developer as well besides that history of doing everything from sitting at the services to doing processes since that meaneth window service and yeah you name it we've got some information about it on this slide as well I won't go through them all love the community love trying to help out sometime over to do that as well also wrote a book called with tortoise character service now and before I go to that one you will see on my screen I think on that side you will have text my LinkedIn connection and all the other stuff so let's go for the book just a few pointers of what it actually contains if you haven't seen it go to amazon.com yes search the service now and it will pop up there but enough about me let's see what we're going to talk about so just a short agenda and then we'll dig into that one what has happened with context and search what are the new stuff I am talking about how can I activate it or is it there from the start what different corporations Canada or what can't I do and let's do it so let's skip that one and see you can see my screen and let's see here I have some papers I've written down right now so right now the things I'm going to show you first of all they will only work on incidents as I know it on problems and on cases and work orders as well I think so you can't actually activate these on your custom tables and so on not that I know of at least if I have wrong please no I will correct that of course if you have a brand new Madrid instance that hasn't been upgraded from previous release this will be activated out of box on the baseline configuration if you don't you will need to activate it and I will of course show you how to do that as well it's not a normal plug in so first of all let's type in contextual search if I can spell correctly let's see and the first thing we need to do is go to the table configuration and as you can see if you haven't noticed before we can have different confirmation depending if you're using each word face or you are using the normal platform or click on innocent for example in this case and what you first need to do is check this one enable source selector if I remove this one it won't be there and what am I talking about of course that will show you let me pick suddenly you can see you have a nice tits sector here we had all different sorts sources and then you can see we're actually have some new ones as well if I go in here and remove this one it's safe and I wait there we go if I reload this one you can see the box is tall and this is how it looks if you upgrade to McGreevy from previous release and that's also the reason why you might even not know that this new feature exists because it isn't there you can see it so let's go back and check the box and like I said if you installing a new seat boot Madrid release the field will be there so let's reload and there we go it's back so that's one thing you need to do the other thing you need to do as well to make sure these let's build back might be needing to click around some time because I've wrote these nodes for like two months ago almost we need to go into the search context and in this case let's take a look at this one for example you have the search on tab if this one isn't there it won't be visible either so this is two places you need to turn on to be able to see all the different ways now good to know it as well when you look at the notes is that it's available on the major instant as well if you have the licenses for that one problem remember there was something called best practices from the grid which also new state models they will only be turned on food for new customers as well so what more is there to look at there are two different new modules additional resources and additional resources fields click on the first one and here you can see these are the new different things you can actually fuse for and I'm doing talking about the drop down openings and through solving ascents and so on as you can see we don't have a new button so you can't actually create your own new ones but one thing that you can actually do is click on for example opening sound and define what is this going to show if the you select open in sends in the drop down you can see I find one insert we might all be familiar with the dear ministers knowing that there is one email server down inside but if I hit email and hit tab I got no results why because it's needs to be created on the last three months if I remove that one it's safe go back try to force the search again folder a new thing as well you might notice that when I start typing it doesn't do the search you need to hit tab to actually research so it might be closed war let's do a test let's reload those actions might actually have been loaded with the page pretty much like a client scripts and so on if you load incident and then change your client script from platform you need to reload the page to get that new client real so let's take a look we go back to my friends soon after email that's kind of interesting I did say this one acting is true but see watch on and this is the one goes I'm going to go back when I was so yeah the conditions is the only thing you can actually change from this one when do we which kind of results do we want we can set that conditions here another thing if I go back to this one and hit my folder you can see that I don't have a description or not incident but then you have the number business service configuration item priority how many shardene sends and the state which fields that will show up here is actually defined through additional resource fields as you can see you can different fields depending on if you're in an agent workspace or on the platform if I click on this one you can see number business services and so on and the title and so on so here you can see and change you can actually change what you see so this is one thing you can actually change just to show you the agent workspace I'll click up that one you can see that here is the same result showing up under agent intelligence so depending of what I type here a short description and the stripe email just to find no results and then I type folder and there it goes so that is where it shows up in the agent workspace let's see what more is there to say yes let's go to incident again let's do incident form let's say creating new and if I just type folder it trap and I just want to see hoping incidents here you can see that I have no icons out here and if I click my all has this helped now let me fill in a call and then I go back here opens you can see I still don't have anything out here but if I click here I certainly have link to insert so these are what it called actions and let's find them let's go to contextual and that is actually under the table configuration so let's go in there and we'll hit incident and if you scroll down you can see there is a new tab called search action configuration and you can see there is quite a lot and you can see if I scroll up you have different search sources depending where should active show and if I click for example to link to insolent I get to something called the search action configuration and it's inside this table you don't have it out here but this is where all those go so if I take that one just copy it here you can see here is all of them that's what let's go back basically not so much you can do here either besides when should show in this case it should only show one parent instant is empty so if you have something on your parent isn't already and let's go and do that let's go into so now if I click on it you can see it's there or goat related insults I don't see the part that's weird and let's do like this instead and I don't have to shove which view why don't I have more than one always nice from doing videos and going into stuff that you actually haven't done let's see might be new to your over to Madrid I guess she said let's just go in here and I'll just move over my so now that this is the parent and here you can see that this isn't has this isn't as a parent so if I go reload this one do back to open essence and now I shouldn't actually have yeah it's gone LinkedIn's and is gone now as you might remember when I didn't save this surely ask once more for if it was time to folder open incense as you can see I don't have it here because I need to submit the record first and that is something you will find let's go back the field is not visible here and it's easier to see if we go to context if I can spell table configurations are going to incident and in the related list I actually have a field called show on new record and if I scroll down to link to incident you can see it is actually false because of course we need a record before we can actually link it if I don't would click you see I can't edit it either as well now just to show a little bit in the backend how does these actions actually work if I click on LinkedIn sir you can see there is a field called rest api related path meaning that when I click on this one it will use this REST API what we can do is if we go to script and rest and I know that the base a platinum the to search has that world we have contextual search actions and then as you can see this is read-only and I wouldn't recommend editing it even if you find a way to do it link insert and here you can actually see what are happening here if you like to know of course here you can see everything that's being done and I have already gotten a question so I thought I might as well as with here as well it's not recommended since you're all breaking base line configuration and then when you're comes you might mess stuff up but if you noticed on let me us think of it [Music] please let me go here we have link to instant here well I could actually change which API should go to so I can create a new method on that script arrest and pull that instead then this is the only place you actually will need to change later on if you would like to go back don't recommend it the only thing I would recommend changing is this one when it should be visible or not another good place to know about and that's actually not just with grid I think this table exists earlier as well is that if I go to incident list let's just do some matter let me take something I haven't played with let's take this one look at the search results a little open incidents it can find anything has changed - yes footprint reform can't sign anything your eider let's go into a table called CXS and run this is a place where all the searches and things you do actually are being saved if I click on this one you can see that I search for that one first and then printer didn't find anything if I start to do stuff let's see I think it was this one I played with you with earlier no let's go back to this one we do folder and refine this was so that one was the one we already linked to thing let's click on this one instead a hole should be let's create a new one to show you it's just for booze I'm spelling it wrong I can't find anything yeah but I can even find some other stuff what you want to save it to change this one to folder search get my open incidents click on number 5 I'm going to link it there we go let's go back to our blog these are the two things I did my first search before I saved and the second one and here we can see the second one I the order here is kind of long I did the search first then I clicked on the preview and then I hit the link to answer let's see if I do you like this there we go now it makes sense search first previewed linked so here you can actually see what is happening and of course if you only would like to look at these records good way right click open a new window you get into the correct table and then of course hitting all will show you all those records as well and I might be a few 60 these are pretty much what I have to say I don't think as I play around with I can't get it to work on contact to search on the portal yet I haven't looked at note and perhaps it's working there so keep that down good thing to remember you need to tap out or leave the field after you type the search to get it's actually search it doesn't search while you type because it will be a performance issue just that's buried I think hopefully you found this useful and I'll try to don't take so much time before next video will come out so thanks not watching
