Transforming Education: How POLITEHNICA Bucharest is Shaping the Future of IT and Business

Import · Aug 23, 2024 · article

The National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest is at the forefront of skilling Romania’s ServiceNow workforce of tomorrow. The ServiceNow Academy, established by Dr. Decebal Popescu in 2020, is an innovative program that offers both Masters and Undergraduate students the opportunity to graduate with a degree and industry-recognized ServiceNow credentials.

Masters students specializing in Digital Government can enroll in the “Management of e-Governmental Projects” course. This course leverages ServiceNow to teach students how to implement digitalization solutions for government, though the concepts also apply to IT and business sectors. Within this course, students take Welcome to ServiceNow, ServiceNow Administration, and ITSM Fundamentals. This integrated curriculum, combining theoretical and practical high-demand content, is a unique offering, forming an integral part of the Master’s degree. By the end of the program, students build a strong foundation in business and technological skills, culminating in the ServiceNow certification process.

Vasilescu Mihai-Alexandru, a student in the program, shares his experience: “The ServiceNow Academy provides a comprehensive and valuable learning experience for those looking to enhance their skills on the ServiceNow platform. Its well-structured curriculum caters to a wide range of skill levels, from beginners to advanced users.” He adds, “I solved exercises similar to tasks in the projects I am involved in at work. Ultimately, I passed the Certified System Administrator exam and earned my certification.”

Undergraduate students have access to the “Computer Networks” course, which covers the basics of computer networks and integrates with the ITOM Fundamentals course. In this course, students learn about routers, switches, servers, and, through labs, how to automatically discover and manage devices on the network, identifying problems using ServiceNow ITOM.

Both programs produce graduates who are well-versed in ServiceNow foundations and equipped with the skills employers are seeking. Mihai-Valeriu Vilveacu, another student who received his Certified System Administrator Certification, was hired as a ServiceNow developer. He notes, “A significant strength of the course was the hands-on practice sessions. These labs allowed me to apply the theoretical knowledge in a controlled environment, mirroring real-world ServiceNow scenarios. This practical experience was crucial in reinforcing my understanding of the platform and preparing me for the certification exam.”

Global employers across various industries are eager to hire students with these skills. Companies like iTSM Group, NTT Data, OMV Petrom, and others actively recruit from this program.

The ServiceNow Academy has seen remarkable success in empowering students with the skills necessary to thrive in the digital transformation landscape across multiple faculties. With a strong focus on hands-on learning and real-world applications, the program has cultivated a robust talent pipeline for organizations seeking skilled ServiceNow professionals. As the demand for digital transformation in IT and business continues to grow, the ServiceNow Academy is expanding its offerings to include advanced certifications and specialized training modules.

Looking ahead, the Academy plans to further expand its curriculum to incorporate best practices, ensuring learners remain competitive in a rapidly evolving job market. The program also aims to foster a stronger community by introducing more collaborative learning opportunities and industry partnerships.

With the ongoing efforts of the Academy founders—National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, ServiceNow Inc., and iTSM Trusted Quality srl / iTSM Group—the ServiceNow Academy is committed to becoming the premier resource for upskilling and reskilling in the rapidly evolving business and IT Service Management space.
