Import · Aug 02, 2024 · video

awesome everybody let's go ahead and get started thank you for introducing yourselves in the chat I'm gonna start by introducing my guests today so today I actually forgot to remove Brad from the introduction slide whoops Brad's not joining us today but my name is Maria Gabriella wector I'm a senior appon product manager on the agent experiences team and today I've got two awesome guests with me if you guys could introduce yourselves let's start with Dan good day everybody I'm Dan Kane I am a outbound product manager from the from the same team same larger team but my my group focuses more specifically on platform analytics and related products so reporting you know inline editors so the next you know the next experienc dashboards and things of that sort and I am based out of Minneapolis and my name is Thomas Davis and I am on the same team as Dan so again outbound product manager that focuses on platform analytics within the instance as a whole as a whole so yeah we're happy to be here and hopefully we'll give you all some great stuff today thank you guys so much so as usual we're going to start with a little bit of housekeeping here uh number one please use the Q&A for questions it helps me gather up the questions at the end of the presentation and post them online for everybody to see in the future use the chat for comments where we can chat discuss what's going on but any questions please put them in the Q Q&A the session is being recorded and the slides and video will be available at a later time um you can find them where you signed up for the academy on the community there is a listing there that will link you directly to an event and that's where you're able to find the session recordings to share with everybody that you know I strongly recommend if you're new here you check out our last Academy not last month we've been on a couple months break here check out our last Academy we went over everything that you need to know in order to get acquainted with next experience it was a great overview of everything that you would possibly want to know about next experience Works spaces in UI builder in order to get started these sessions are for you Thomas and Dane are and Dan sorry are here to answer your questions so please ask questions interact we're going to be in the product configuring live so you know you guys know how live demos go we'll see what happens and we will be back soon our next session is August 21st at 11:00 a.m. eastern remember it's the third Wednesday of every month and next month we're going to be going over what's new in sanado do for agent experiences so I'm super excited to bring that to you guys so you guys can tell all your co-workers about what's coming new to service now then I have one final slide before I turn it over to Thomas we have a research opportunity we would actually love to hear your feedback on service now's context menu aka the right click men menu examples of content available in the context menu are like actions like save favorite accessing the form layout the change fields and things like that I am going to be posting that link here shortly into the presentation once into the chat once Thomas starts presenting on his side but yeah we would love to hear from administrators so feel free to share this link with any admins in your life that you know so we really appreciate your participation I'm going to go ahead and stop sharing and turn it over to Thomas great so you can see my screen correct yes awesome awesome so thank you Gabby for inviting Dan and us over to do some cross pollination anytime we have an opportunity to do that it's just a win-win for everybody so I know that you all came over and did a little bit for us on one of our last sessions so it's nice to be able to repay back that to you so or just paid that back to you or something like that yeah in context yeah who may not be familiar excuse me for those of us who may not be familiar what did we join you on so basically what we did is we actually had you come over and show the technical side of creating a dashboard in the technical editor which is something that we don't necessarily Hit Upon a great deal on our side only because we generally try to tell our customers to actually stay away from that use the inline editor however we know it is important for people and there are some obviously some Advanced develop velers that can use that and know what they're doing so you and Brad came over and gave a really great session and actually we'll provide a link to that a little bit later on where if anybody is interested in that they can definitely come across and see that but today like Gabby said what we wanted to try to do was at least get you all familiar with what the inline editor is in platform analytics how to create a dashboard how to create some Vis data visualizations within inside of that how to put a filter on that and then we're going to hand it back over to Gabby and she's actually going to put that into a workspace so exciting stuff this is really great stuff and and it's awesome when we know that the platform can do this and given the opportunity to show that and then of course get this recorded and it becomes part of Gabby's lab Library it'll become part of our library it's just a win-win when we know that the information is out there readily available at fingertips for you all to learn from that so with that quickly I just want to kind of talk about a couple things and get you familiar with what the inline editor is and again this is how you would actually create a dashboard inside of platform analytics and like I said we'll show you that here in a little bit a little bit there are some reasons why you know going to platform analytics uh maybe you formerly heard of it as performance analytics or reporting well now platform analytics brings all of that same functionality into a screen into one canvas that gives you the ability to drag and drop and add a lot of great features that you'll see here shortly but a couple of the top things that we find are really really important especially if you're familiar familar with doing any sort of PA reporting inside of the platform there's some things that have always been things that people have really really wanted and we have gotten to the point where we've been able to deliver those and the first one I think that always gets a loud roar whenever we're at knowledge and we have sessions there I know that Dan did w this past knowledge I did one the previous year and talking about unified filters so if if you're familiar with if you had performance analytics and you added a widget to a dashboard it would have to have a breakdown if you had a report that was added to a dashboard it would have to have an uh interactive filter well those days are done so in platform analytics the unified filter will filter whatever is on the dashboard as long as obviously the backend data aligns with whatever that filter is so that's a huge win so that's one of the reasons why going to platform analytics is huge data visualization so this would be what you would call a a widget in the past or even a report in the past now they're all just data visualizations we call them that one term but you can add multip different data sources which you'll see here in a little bit as well and it's just easier it is easier it has a drag and drop canvas that gives you the ability to move things around make your visualizations a little bit smaller you can add your filters to the dashboard you can add filters on a particular tab or you can add a filter above a tab and have that work on all the tabs or singular tab things like that easier sharing more flexibility all that different stuff there's some great other things like certifying you can certify dashboard now you can certify data visualization CER certifying is a really great way to apply some governance so which one should I be using well you should be using the one that is certified you can create your own you can add uh certified data visualizations to it so you know you have that one sort of true source of information so these are some key reasons that we thought were very important to create in the inline editor and actually use you know create a dashboard and platform analytics so Access Control we always like to talk about this so in user so anyone who has access to a visualization Library and the analytics Center of platform analytics can actually add that to their dashboard uh any role can create a dashboard doesn't necessarily mean that they can certify you have to have a different role to do that if you want to create different visualization and things of that you'd actually have to have the viz Creator and of course the viz admin which if you're familiar with performance analytics is very similar to what the pa admin used to be uh and those roles will still around as well you just add more roles to users as they do it so just a couple different roles that you need to be aware of as you actually do this and let's see there we go so platform analytics experience comparison to Legacy I talked about a little bit but here we'll show some some little bullets that kind of hopefully help you out with that so core UI Legacy so you created in performance analytics or you create a report now it all happens in platform analytics experience so separate reports and Pa widgets again like I said before they're just data visualizations now it doesn't really matter what the data source is separate interfaces now it's all shared one shared interface like I talked about the canvas where you can drag and drop and add things onto that separate charts and widget widget types now they're just shared charts and shared configurations again comparison to what it was before so something that I talked about as well is sharing reusing which we always find is very very important a lot of instances and probably a lot that are on this call when they were first sort of came to service now it was this free-for-all where everybody just started creating and adding and and that's great right we obious want to give that that ability to do that but governance is always a big thing that we like to cover especially on our side is making sure that you actually know what is out there so saving visualization so if somebody saves a visualization and we know that it's that one source of truth then saving that visualization and an open it up to other people to use that is a really great thing especially if somebody else is going to create a dashboard um if the user has access to edit save visualizations they'll be able to edit them directly on their particular dashboard if they don't then they can edit that which is always great users make changes to save visualizations when they click save they will save a mod they'll see a module ask them if they want to save the changes to the library or only just to the dashboard so if they add something and they they want to change it it it'll ask them if they want to basically update what's in the library now if they do that that's going to update everybody dashboard that has that visualization so it's just something for them to be aware when they do that and again save visualizations added to dashboards are automatically visible to all users who have access to the dashboard so that's another one and I should have had a slide on this but this is super super important because this is a and I may further on but this is another big one that I know got a a allow Roar when I brought it up at knowledge so in the past if you had a dashboard that had a widget or it had a report whenever you shared out that dashboard you had to under you had to share underlying as well what I mean by that is that if you shared a dashboard that had a report that report also had to be shared in order for the user that was viewing that dashboard that was shared with them to see it that doesn't happen anymore if you share a dashboard everything that's on it now is shared so again that is a huge win that we've got high praises for because the idea of having six or seven reports and having to share those individually and then share the dashboard that's so redundant we're like that doesn't make sense so we fix that by you know one share is going to take care of all of that so A couple of the quick features and I promise we'll get into the demo uh here you can name a dashboard you can have a description again there's that certified so if it's certified and you have the role to do that you can certify that it'll let you know if it's certified who the owner is who the group is visibility so is the dashboard visible in one or more workspaces so if you add something to a workspace it'll actually let you know that it's there requested by created by last updated by all great information that is relevant sharing info so sharing is available only from The View mode of the dashboard so once you view it you can share it from there and dashboards like before can be shared with users groups or roles and and users can specify if they want to share with a viewer if they want to give them editing Privileges and things that right there at it so some really great features as it relates to dashboard so let me just stop are there any questions we need to answer or are we still good okay silence is golden so here you can see in just this this particular video is where do you find it right and it's super simple you type in platform analytics in the filter Navigator and there you'll see that you can get the analytics Center Library which is dashboards data visualizations kpis filters schedule exports super super simple it's there it's available for you so how do I create a dashboard super simple click on create dashboard here we'll select inline editor this will slow down a little bit when I do it live so don't worry about that you give it a name one of the things that I should have done in this particular video because it's super important to me and I actually have a Blog that I wrote many many years ago is put a description right help somebody else out because maybe that description would deter them from actually creating the same exact dashboard that you've already created so given a really good description can help with that just a big thing because you know being you know creating multiple things that are essentially the same thing kind of doesn't make any sense so user description I should have done that in this video sorry I didn't do that so inline editor is what we're going to create in today so as I was talking about earlier a couple sessions ago Brad and Gabby came across and they selected the technical editor that was on the right and they created a dashboard which was really cool directly inside of the technical editor so you have both of those options I would say depending on what your role is and what your expertise is in you have to decide which one of those is better for you but I think the inline editor the Simplicity of it and the way that we've created it and made it much more easier for people to create there you could probably almost get almost everything that you need to be done directly inside of that inline editor so and again any user with any internal role can access the dashboards there and remind he keeps referencing to a previous session that we did that's their platform analytics Academy it's on the same YouTube channel that we post ours you just have to find their playlist and I'll be linking all that in the chat yeah and I may have done that later on I can't remember but yeah thank you for that g Hey Thomas there is one there is one question that I think is relevant to you because you're just talking about roles sure a question that just came in so can you override the sharing on a specific tab or report on a dashboard so only certain shared members can see so since now if shared they can all see yeah they they can all so and if I understand the question correctly it's yeah you absolutely can set roles at the you talking about at the tab or report level generally we want to keep the roles to a dashboard or certainly a tab level I you can create some you can create permissions or roles you can sharing that are specifically for a given report or a given widget but that can cause that can create a very unhappy experience for some users if they can see some of the content on a dashboard but don't have access to a specific widget so usually we like to say keep it at the dashboard level or at the very least a tab level so that your users so that you the the viewers of that dashboard have a good experience yeah and I think that the other question that came in which is important so can you switch from inline to technical at any point no once you once you've decided to create a technical dashboard it will be a technical dashboard and when you've created an inline dashboard it is an inline dashboard now you may be able to do some things within an inline dashboard if you if you have some some great knowledge of developing and things of that nature where you could sort of work your way around some things but if you know that you're going to need to do some scripting and you really want that 100% sort of ability to customize everything that you're looking at and you know that from the start then your best bet is to start at the technical dashboard but again you need to be very familiar with UI Builder before you do that because that's basically what the technical dashboard is is the is you know creating and developing inside of UI Builder but you cannot switch between the two once you've sort of made that decision yeah thank you Dan for that okay so what are some of the elements that you can actually add onto a dashboard so you obviously can create a visualization which we talked about earlier and we'll show some of the ones that you can you can create and I believe that if I there we go so data visualization that's what that looks like there inside of adding an element you can create a filter and we'll actually show how you can create a filter there and there's a couple different filters that you can actually add you can add a heading to a dashboard so maybe you want to give more context more clarity to what somebody's actually looking at you can add images to dashboards you can create an add a simple list to a dashboard and you can create some rich text if you choose to um again just sort of highlighting the different things that you can do here so next so if you want to add a element here all I'm going to do is just add a data visualization and you can see here by the video the different ones that are actually available there and which is super super simple and then you can see here that we we actually have a doc as well that talks about all of those something that I could say here which I think is super super important is and we we did a session a couple years ago that was actually called which visualization and we thought it was important to talk about that because people obviously were creatures of right we always go to what's sort of comfortable for us and with that does a horizontal bar work for every bit of information no it does not but I think if someone is very comfortable with that and they like the way that it looks and they feel as though it's giving them great information they may tend have a tendency to go to that I think understanding all the visualizations that we actually provide and what they actually can do for you is super super important because you may be able to tell a better story with a different visualization so just keep that in mind as you create again it's okay to be comfortable in what you're what you know and what you're aware of but depending on the story that you want to tell the customer that's looking at it it's probably a good idea to to look through all the different visualizations and what they actually can do for you as you go into the process process of actually starting to create those visualizations and again we do have a link a little bit later on to all of ourmes I'm going to I'm going to give a nice little plug here and a shout out to ourselves we are probably one of the longest Runnings we're about six years now so we have six years of content as it relates well over a hundred sessions that we have done now that doesn't mean that something that happened in 2019 is relevant to today uh but there is still a lot of things that happened ories that we did a few years ago that are still qu quite relevant even moving to the platform analytics is still relevant so we have some really good stuff and we'll provide that link to you here here a little bit later so a couple of things that are inside of the configuration that you can do and you'll see those here in a little bit as well obviously we can add a header we can you can separate the header you can give the chart type and descript and you can wrap it and you can show a border things like that data what kind of data that can we actually add to it what can we do with the data there's additional settings there's ways to update the data whether or not it's following a filter show the filter icon a lot of great functionality and and the really great thing and you heard me talked about this earlier is it's all on a screen so the idea of having to decide on this when you create the widget and then add it to a dashboard and then if you don't like it you got to go back to the widget you can do all that in the same screen and same canvas which is super super awesome so just some different ways that you can actually configure it and here are the different types of data that you can actually add to a data visualization and you can read more about that that's in the docs as well so configure data visualization how do you want the chart to interact do you want to to go to the data view you can actually set it up to go to a URL you can change the colors you can have colors do some different things which of these are a lot of these things that you could do in the past with a widget anyway but it's all there uh as well real quick we'll talk about filters then I promise we'll get into a demo so here you can add a single select you can add a multi- select you can add a date the calendar view a lot of different things that you can do with the calendar and then if you just have a you know a bullion that has a true false you can actually do that as well um the another really great thing and you'll see it here in a little bit is that you can add and create a data visual directly on a table but you can also do it on an indicator so all of the existing indicator sources automated indicators formula indicators all those things still work the same exact way you can add those to a dashboard so if you had an indicator that had a breakdown on it you can still use that breakdown that is what serves as the the ability to filter that data and and we'll see that here in a little bit as well so here is a some of the things that you can do with the filter obviously you can change what type of filter it is uh you can give it a label again the data source what do you want to connect to how's that filter going to work some of the other things that you can do you know you connect it directly to filters filters within the table connection itself so if there's already pre-existing filters that are out there that are connected to a table or to a an indicator like I just said those are all still relevant you can change the direction how you want it to look number of elements to actually load maybe you have a filter that has I don't know let's take a really bad example but a really good example CIS filters on CIS there's thousands or millions of them maybe you don't want to show a million I would suggest that you don't so maybe you go to 500 or whatever you do there so real quickly I'm going to pass it over to Dan Dan's going to talk about D dashboard migration and this is going from uh performance analytics and reports dashboards over to platform analytics and then I promise we'll get into the demo Dan all right I'm going to share my screen out here briefly because really let's see I can't remember do we have a I I can't remember if we had slides can you yeah absolutely long yeah okay yep because I did want to speak to this briefly before I show a little bit on it we have done we got some cies that we've got into great depth on the on the migration so I will just ask that if you have any in-depth questions we can try to answer them quickly here but we may just reference you to the uh some of the our Academy sessions because we've spent a lot of time with this because obviously this is a extremely important process for almost every customer so what we put up the releases we the the a migration did not exist the migration utility didn't exist prior to the Washington release so starting with Washington customers at at the upgrade customers have an option to migrate to platform analytics and I'll and I'll mention a couple of the options that and it's and we wanted to make it we wanted to give several releases for customers to get comfortable with the whole idea to start playing with it so that by the time we get to Zurich Zurich is the currently scheduled release where we will automatically migrate all of your legacy core UI analytics content reports dashboards everything to the new platform analytics experience so it's not until Zurich where that where that will happen but something to keep in mind is that you remember that all of our new developments since oh boy I want to say at least Tokyo probably earlier than that but certainly since at least Tokyo has been all new development new features have been exclusive ly and the platform analytics experience so not in the coreui dashboards we haven't put anything new in coreui dashboards for several years now so we really want to encourage all of our customers to move over sooner sooner than better sooner rather sooner rather than later so in Washington it's where we first allow it as an optin zadoo is will continue to be an optin for upgrading customers but net new customers so if you did like if for whatever reason you you did a complete ZB boot of your instance on on xanadoo I I I pray for you if if you're in that scenario but no it's it's it's been done I've actually worked with a couple of customers that have but if you're net new as of xanado do will automatically move to the platform analytics environment so but the but the existing but for all existing customers all upgrading customers it is an optin same thing with Yokohama Yokohama it's going to be an optin for upgrading customers and net new customers will automatically be in the new environment and then Zurich is where we will automatically migrate the content starting with Zurich I did want to so let's see what's the next slide you jump over the next one here please yes there are a couple of different so when you choose to migrate there are actually there kind of the there's there's three choices when you when you get starting with Washington there is a full that's a single click that says I'm going to move all of my content over all at once this is actually a lot less scary than it sounds I would do this in a subr environment but I would say you know try but there is a single click if you're in the subr that will move all of your content over into into the new environment into the new experience that migrates with all the dashboards however the Legacy stuff all of your existing all your existing content still exists in the old core UI environment it's it is still there and and I will I will show you briefly that we we also have a comparison tool so you could do a lot once you've run the quote unquote full migration you haven't actually fully committed to the new platform analytics experience until you do an extra step post migration there is a the there is an activate step after the full migration has been done so until you hit that activate you you still have you can still fall back you and you can still even go back even if you've hit activate but the inter but there's nice goys nice interfaces set up for you to be able to roll back dashboards on a one by one basis or on an entire basis even if you have even if you have done a quote unquote full migration partial this is where you say maybe you want to do where you want to move like certain work groups over at you know one at a time or you or more commonly let's say if youve just moved to Washington and you just kind of want to start playing around it's uh with with dashboards you might say let's go into the let's do a partial migration and let's take five or 10 of our given dashboards and just see how they would work in the new environment and just play with them they're not the live they're not the you know the official dashboards the core the Legacy core UI dashboards are still the official ones at this point but it's a great way to to just kind of start getting used to it getting used to what that migration process will look like and maybe to help you address some of the questions that might come up and then the third option is always the postpone until until Zurich you have the option to delay until until the Zurich release can you jump to the next slide Dan's gone all blurry uh oh am I still blurry my my camera sorry that's uh must be something funky with my camera so it's doing the auto so now it's going to bug me so I'm going to come back to this what I want I want to share my screen here brief quick question can these dashboards be exposed through angular service portals and employee Center or are they only available through the platform they are no there's three one they are only available through uh these the the next experien dashboards as individual widgets can be exposed to to like a a portal environment but the full dashboard cannot it's so that's that's something that is not they are not fully compatible yet but that's something that is that's definitely being worked on so that's that's a great question okay I think you can see my correctly see are you seeing pmo dashboard pmo dashboard excellent that's what I wanted to show you so what I really wanted to show you was kind of give an idea of what the migration Center looks like so starting with Washington you will now have a new menu item called migration Center so once you go to migration center now let will talk about you know get the most recent version all that but once you get that you have information on you know learning more about what it's going to do discover new capability so gives you lots of lots of resources to go and you know to to help you with that to get ready for the transition and for the in addition to that though this is where you have that I tell kind of the try environment try your content allows you to specify which dashboards you would like and you can do and you so you can run filters to say if you have different properties on your dashboards I maybe only want to want to try converting only certain dashboards and that but even then keep in mind that this is not you've not committed to the new version of this change overview if you say I want to test it you've not committed to that yet but what I really wanted to kind of show you about is this start moving again this is the one that sounds scary but is not nearly as scary as it is start moving is where it will one click Start taking everything over into the new environment once it does that I'm not going to do it on this one yet because I'd say still don't do that on prod first do it on a subr before you try it on prod but once you've once you've hit that button and everything is migrated I have another instance here that is post migration and you notice I have my activate button that means I have not yet fully committed to the new environment being the default all of the the old dashboard still exist what I wanted to show you then is what you get when you when you have one of the big Advantage though if you've run the actual the full migration is every one of your dashboards now get you get dashboards dashboards with compatibility modes you know you get what's you have options for what's been fully migrated and what's in compatibility mode compatibility mode is a scenario where a certain widget was not compatible with the new next experience UI so what we do is we still bring it over as an iframe object so it's still exists it so it still exists exactly as it did on the old dashboard so it's still there it's it's just an iframe object and this will show you this will tell you what all you see that are that's in that that's in that state so when I when I look at when I look at the fully migrated dashboards just to give an example of what I can do with this this is my favorite part this compare option when I compare dashboards this is what this particular dashboard looks like in the new UI or the platform analytics experience that's what this this one this dashboard will look like for that little cleaner environment but then I also have the button just to switch back and forth between the two views the only thing that you've really the closest thing to committing is that you will notice that the Legacy versions are in active you can still you can still reactivate if you want to there's nothing that stops you from that but first thing I will show you is speed same dashboard loading on the migrated dashboard versus the core UI that doesn't mean that the the migrated dashboards are going to suddenly make everything instant H where everything if something used to take 30 seconds to load before it doesn't mean it's going to automatically be instant but it should be faster and we have lots of tools and we have lots of tools and Tech techniques and ideas for uh speeding up anyway separate from just migrating to the new environment but the main thing I wanted to show you is just that you have the ability to compare back and forth between these before you decide whether or not you want to actually make this if this the officially this is the new version of this dashboard that I want my users to use so just a just a quick idea and I didn't and I so we go into a lot more detail the migration Center in some of our otheris but what what questions do we have can I try the migration multiple times for the same dashboard like if I want to make changes to the original and then run the try yes that's a real that's a great question because when I try I also I will have the option what it does is you for because some of some of the folks here are sure are a lot more technical what it does is it actually moves that dashboard into we call a bridging table there's a table that Bridges the two environments so the Migra so the old one is still exists in that in that bridging table when I when if I have the migrated one I'm trying to remember exactly where it is where my roll back is but I know Thomas I don't remember off the top of my head but I know there is for every one of them there is a there there is an option to say that I want to roll back and then do it again if you let's say you want to you want to do some cleanup so you've noticed that something didn't transfer over well but you don't know how to quote unquote fix it in the new environment yet you could always roll it back you always have the option to roll these back trying to remember what I do with these but off the top of my head find in one of your previous yeah I know we've got it but I just wanted to just wanted to make but yes absolutely anything can be rolled back and then rerun at a later time good question what else other questions so Dan just for the sake of time maybe we I'll go ahe and share and maybe you can answer some of some of those via I will take a look yep go for it all right so okay so you can see my screen correct yes okay so let me actually I'm GNA change this so everyone doesn't have to see the side of my face the whole time let me reshare what I'm gonna share a different screen here because I would have been looking to the right there we go better good all right so let's let's create create a dashboard let's add a couple visualizations I saw some Matt put something in the chat and said can we see how a dashboard looks with multiple tabs I can do that real quick and then we're going to give it over to Gabby and she's going to actually put it in the workspace so again as I showed earlier all you're simply going to do here is type platform analytics in the filter Navigator and here you can see all the different things that you have access to and for this we're just going to click on dashboards there are some that are already created but we're going to create a new one and again we're going to choose the inline editor and we're just going to take test for this amazing if I can type Academy there we go and I can't typing live is the worst it's just because everybody I have 193 people looking at me so T back to typing class when we had typewriters see that I just told my age so yeah and remember we want a description so I'm just going to go ahead and take this put that in there as well we're going to create a new dashboard super simple there's that Amazing Canvas that I was talking about earlier here's the name of our dashboard and here all we're going to Simply do is click on add a new element and we're going to click on data visualization and we're going to create a new one if there was a saved one that we wanted to create we clicked on Saved it'll take us to the library and it'll let us choose one whichever one we want to do but we'll just click on new and for this we're just going to do a single score super super simple and here you can see all the different things in the configuration menu that I showed you a little bit earlier but for this let's go ahead and add our data source and here you can see some suggested obviously it knows a couple of the ones I want to use cuz I was testing this before I got on the call uh but tables indicators user experience but for this one we're going to choose a table and table is signified by this what I've always called a sort of hamburger menu look like and the other one is an indicator which looks like it actually has a graph inside of it but we'll click on incident and again if it had any predefined conditions we talked about those a little bit earlier those will still be sitting there so for this we're just going to do incident closed and here you can see when we run that we have a lot so let's narrow this down so we can actually add a little bit more custom on that so here I'm just going to say I just want to look at closed on this week so on and click on this and just select and do this week uh and when we run that we only get about 15 which is a much better number to look at we simply add this source and here you can see that we have our 15 now that's very blank and if somebody were look at they like well what is that right so here we're just going to add a head and we're just going to say close incidents super simple and as soon as I type that you can see it pops up over there if you wanted to to show separate you could put a little line Underneath It All Kinds of little things there's that description again so disregard that I'm not putting anything in there and remember that you should put something in there you can wrap the title you can do all kinds of little fancy things what about colors colors yep you can actually add colors to it if you chose to you could do a single color whatever you want that color to be and if you wanted that color to be dynamic if you wanted it to do some things based on some sort of action you can actually add that in there as well but for time sake and I think on this it' be really hard for us to do that now so that shows blue I I will tell you that I'm a bit of old school when it comes to the different colors that are presented on a dashboard this is something that I have said quite a few times and and service now itself has not chastised me yet but I sometimes think that we put too many colors especially on a dashboard because I feel like and this is the this understand my reasoning um a dashboard to me is a lot like my C dashboard that's what it came from I don't want any colors on my dashboard unless something is wrong so when that check engine light goes off my eyes are drawn to it I feel like dashboards like this should be the same way greens are good that means you're doing your job I don't need to see something green it's the it's the yellows and the Reds that are important to me just my little side thing you you obviously can build them however you choose to but I want my eye to be drawn to something so when I open up the dashboard it means that something is going on and I don't have to decipher that by looking all the different numbers just my side take on that or whatnot so here we've added one it says close incidence we click save and then we exit and now you can see we have a dashboard that quickly that says test for an amazing Academy our Clos incidents and we have 15 of those you can click on this and it'll actually show you those particular incidents super super simple very easy now let's real quickly let's add another one but let's add a tab okay so maybe tab one you can name them whatever you want this is our Tab and we'll just say I don't first tab super simple second we'll call it second tab super simple right so now when we click save and exit here you can see first tab that has that second tab that has I don't know why I showing on both of them it shouldn't be but second oh there we go second tab it had to catch up with me I'm too fast that is empty okay okay so let's go ahead and add something to the second tab right we'll add another visualization and this time we'll do a let's let's do a line right and this time we're going to connect it to an indicator so I know I have number of closed in incidents which is just like the instant table what's the difference here table is going to be real real time data it's populated with the same way it is and indicator is going to be the last time that the data collection job was ran that that indicator is a part of so if you're not that familiar with with PA and things that keep that in mind so it's very simpler to if you built a report a report reports on table data directly on table data means it's the latest and greatest widgets would report on indicator so that data was only as relevant as the last time that it was actually ran so here we can see number of closed incidents here's all the existing breakdowns that were already there we used this in a widget before it's there and we're going to go ahead and add that particular Source super simple right save exit and now we can see on the first tab we have closed incidents second tab so that job maybe needs to be ran again actually it's not showing anything for the 17th so that's why we are it's showing nine and then one here and this may be a little bit outside of or it's just too low that's why the numbers showing a bit differently so let's add a filter okay and then we'll move it over to Gabby to show some even more fancy things so we're going to say a filter and again if you had save filters again Library really great so if you have filters that are the One Source truth add those there tell people to use those we're going to add a filter now here watch this quick amazing feat so we can add the filter at this tab or we can put it above all the tabs so why is this important if you have a filter that you want to apply to all the tabs no matter which one that you select at any given time if a filter is applied to it put it above the tabs if you want a tab that is on a or or filter on a particular tab then add that to that one particular one but we're just going to put them on both because we're going to show that it's going to work so here we're just going to use a single select you can see we have multi select we'll do multi select one and then you can name whatever you want it to do and we're just going to say incident let's do category right so now we got to add our data source and here you can select table or indicator breakdown I'm going to choose table because I know that I have a data visualizations that's pointed to a table even though I know that indicator breakdown is going to work the same way here we're just going to look for the incident table and we're going to select that and then I'm going to select my field and there's category and I'm going to apply that okay save exit editing mode here is my filter now let's look at the number we have 15 here let me just see the software please three you can see here that the filter is applied let's go ahead and clear that selecting there go back let's go to the second Tab and here we could do some more stuff to this to make it look better I I I will agree with you but for demonstration purposes but here we have at least what do we have here nine let's see if that changes let's go to software here now you can see that there's only one on the 16th so this is demo data not the best data in the world so forgive us on that but really it's about showing you the functionality here you can see that we had that particular filter above both of those tabs and when I go back over still works let's add Hardware as well this number will go up this number will go up as well so again super super simple if we were to go back here and say you know I just wanted on this particular tab save and exit go to the first tab refresh that is I don't know why it's not showing there did I save it oh I put it on the second tab my bad so here software same thing move that over apply it we've changed that number if we go to the first tab I needed to clear that should have cleared that before I did it let's go back over here let's clear that there we go it is cleared apply that's weird that's a little bug I'm going have to have somebody look at that it kept that filter it shouldn't do that but in any case you can see how you can move things around and this is very Elementary at this point if you wanted to get rid of get rid of that and add the data visualization to the same tab here we can have it there again we can do a line we can choose our data source we'll choose a number of closed incidents add that Source save exit now you can see that both of them are on the same one we can clear this and we can add software and we can see both of them filter and you can see that the filter is applied to it by this there so with that I know how we are on time but Gabby super quick and efficient she's gonna rock this thing out in no time so Gabby there's the name of our dashboard if you want to go ahead and share and see how we can see this in a workspace and you're muted I don't think I can hear you definitely thank you you so much and I can't wait to show you how easy it is so our admin wants to see it as part of the so the service operations workspace landing page they want to see that dashboard as the landing page so we're going to go into UI Builder now I'm going to pop it right open here and with our new experiences homepage for UI Builder I can see that I recently opened service operations workspace because I practiced this earlier so we've got the home page which is the landing page and you can set what the landing page is under settings but what we're going to do is we're going to click on create a new page and instead of creating a new individual page we're going to add a variant to a page and when we do this it gives us either the option to duplicate a variant that exists or add a new variant instead of duplicating and here we've got a brand new dashboard template we're going to scroll down a little bit and we're going to find dashboards we're going to click use templates we're going to name this Academy we're going to hit create and now it's going to be super technical everybody watch out keep an eye out don't blink or you'll miss it when the platform finishes loading sorry my internet doesn't seem to like me today this is what happens with live demos so here we go we're going to click on the dashboard components we're going to go over to the components panel we're going to select default dashboard and we're going to search I already oh test for the amazing Academy great name we're going to hit save we can see with our new stage 3.0 where we have a better live view of everything we can already see our dashboard working but our admin wanted us to change it so that's the default that shows up so remember we have to set the order of our variant to be the low lowest number you can also set conditions and audiences to filter who can see this better and you can see the other variant starts at 100 so with our variant saved we should be able to go go back here refresh and boom we're done good job everybody Pat yourselves on the back it worked on the first try if you end up having any issues with this just remember that cashing could be your greatest enemy when it comes to UI Builder development so clear your cash your browser cash things like that when you're testing this out but that was super quick and easy you want to share the slides and finish out your part sure see Thomas I told you it wasn't that painful no it was not I I'll be honest with you I had a little bit of fear but you you took that away so this will be awesome and again like I said before and I know that this is super important for for you as well but the the idea of being able to have this information in a library is super super important and we will definitely use it and probably recreate this session on our side and maybe even do some some things a little bit more fancy so for the the sake of time and I know that there's some questions and and Dan do do you have anything that you want to answer live or did you select anything and I see typing one right now the process typing I think I'll go mention this quickly it was a question on well it a very specific question I think I'll do it in I'll do it in the typing but it's on Metric definitions and the report acl's so I'm gonna I think I'll just do that more specifically and because I I'll Christian I'm going to send a link and for anyone else who's interested in that if that sounds of interest to you yeah I'll hold off on that so and I know that there was another question about can we add color to the canvas in the background or the widget or the widget header that's actually a data visualization header I believe believe that there is some functionality there I actually sent a message out to one of our developers while Gabby was doing her preso and I'm waiting to hear back from that but what I'll do is make sure that when I get that answer I'll give it to Gabby and she can definitely put into the community for this particular event to make sure that that is there available and then the exporting from list visualization to excel I would probably need a little bit more detail on that one so Bradley what what you can do is if you can ask that question in the community and tag myself or Dan we'll make sure that we definitely grab that for you and figure out what's going on with that particular thing and here you can see on your screen this is the link scan that QR code or the link is right down there on the bottom this is to all of oury this let you know what's upcoming what's planned actually the July 10th one is pass obviously we did that last week but that is there uh but you can see some future ones that we have coming up and really great thing and again that's where those six years of sessions the best way for you to actually get to all of those and then I believe the other thing that I had is since if if you all or most of you all are brand new to doing what I just showed we have actually created an enablement tool kit that is out in the community with small little snid pit a snibbit videos that are like two three four minutes long that actually show you how to create a visualization how to share a visualization how to certify a dashboard how to certify visualization how to do how to add a filter all these different things along with the PowerPoint that goes along with this so the idea behind this toolkit is to help you train up your people so there's no there's no reason for you to sort of recreate the training as it relates to this because we've really given it to you so go to this particular page and all of these videos are there available for you and we continue to add to these and again the Powerpoints are there so please reuse don't recreate no sense in that so make sure that you're checking that out as well and I think with that I'll pass it back to you Gabby for whatever else you need to share thank you and we'll just keep yours up if that's all right if you want to learn more about next experience in general like I said we have a great episode on this our last episode everything you need to get started if you have literally any questions I feel like that covers and if it doesn't leave me a comment and I'll make sure to address it or tag me in the community like Thomas said we've got all of our information linked from the next experience Center of Excellence we also got UI Builder courses and our learning that have been updated past Utah promise I just haven't updated the slide uh We've also got agent chat advanced work assignment and sidebar Community if you need any help with that click next we've also got our YouTube playlists if you're interested in learning more about UI Builder development specifically I do a live show on the second and fourth Thursday of every month with Brad Tilton and we do we try to make UI Builder seem a little bit more approachable we show you what it's really like to develop on UI Builder and our tag line is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't um I think it's a great place for people who might be brand new DOI Builder to try to pick up and if you show up live you can answer you can ask us questions and we're happy to answer this video is going to be a part of our next experience Academy YouTube playlist on the service our community YouTube channel which you can find linked on the community post that you Ed to sign up for this event and is there another slide yes if you're looking for moreis like the academy that Thomas and Dan which we've been talking about this whole time you should check out all these acmy linked on this page it is a great resource that my team works really hard on to make for you guys every month if you have any questions they're great places for you to ask questions and get answers to things you might be stuck on and then is there anything else and here's a QR code I think that's it though thank you Thomas and Dan so much for helping us today and being our awesome guests I really appreciate it and I learned a whole lot about something I've been terrified about great yeah you're welcome thank you if there's any stuff that you guys want us to cover in future episodes feel free to leave a comment on the events or the YouTube channel and I will work to keep an eye out for that type of stuff next session is going to be August 21st I recall correctly it's going to be on what's new in sanado so stay tuned we're going to have a whole bunch of awesome stuff coming up thank you all so very much for watching and have a good day bye thank you
