okay you probably figured it out from the title I am retiring but before I get into the details I have to share with you one more thing that I just learned you know that phrase the only constant is change it's from the philosopher heraclitus did you know that the world has been misinterpreting it for centuries yeah I found out he used to be a JavaScript programmer check it out see I found some of his code that survived the only constant is change okay I know that was bad I used it to let you know change is coming so here it is again I am retiring effective September 6th 2024 you heard that right on the one hand I am excited for the next chapter in my life on the other I am going to miss working with and working for you all there are so many people to think so I'll make this quick Chief among them thank you to my wife Donna of 36 years and of course my family for allowing me to follow my passions they back my crazy ideas and enable me to turn them into a career thank you to service now leadership who had faith in me offered me opportunities encouraged and coached me along the way thank you to everyone in the ecosystem for making me feel so special I've done my best to pay that forward and I invite you to do the same I consider all of you my friends the last 40 Years of my career have been been extremely rewarding and fulfilling both personally and professionally who knew that a nerdy interest in computers would turn into such a wonderful Journey when I went from customer to employee in 2010 we had fewer than 200 employees and about as many customers it was a small Scrappy company where the CEO was writing code there was no way I could have imagined the journey I would take or the velocity at which it came to a role that I feel was customade for me I feel truly blessed I have no doubt that the future of service now is in great hands I'd especially like to call out the service now Community I saw this up close and in detail at knowledge 24 it's the model of my kind of Utopia people focused on helping people solve problems that's a world I want to live in now regarding the future of the developer relations team Lauren McMahan will continue to lead the breakpoint podcast all team members will produce content for our releases and events and they will also work with our community to drive engagement and advocacy in our ecosystem I respect their opinions and their work and I really look forward to seeing what they do next be sure to follow Earl du PR pagot and Lauren McManaman on social media to stay up to date now as a quick side note all the videos podcasts and blogs I've ever created over the years will remain available so keep sharing those links in the first few months after retirement my wife Donna and I will be doing some traveling for fun and to spend time with family thankfully my parents are in good health at ages 89 and 90 so we want to enjoy the time we have with them I'll continue doing the topic is Trek podcast and technorama podcast with my friends as we've been doing for years I also plan to keep in touch with friends on a regular basis and if I'm lucky I'll get back into a regular exercise program and perhaps some volunteer work and let's not forget the honeydew list that's been great growing for some time and you can bet I'll be keeping an eye on the service now news watching videos listening to podcasts and so forth so keep up the great work now Donna and I are still discussing future plans we've batted around several ideas of which few are nailed down one thing I've learned over nearly 50 years of collecting a paycheck is to keep my options open and who knows I may unexpectedly create a new video or two or even show up at a service now event in the future however in the next 60 days there's still a little webinar called Tech now that Prana Earl and luren and I have to deliver on August 1st a spotlight or xanadoo release I hope to see you there I'd love to keep in touch with you you can reach me on LinkedIn and if you're ever in the Phoenix area let me know once again thank you for everything and I hope our paths cross again soon I love you
