What are Impact Jumpstart Accelerators?

ServiceNow Impact is designed to help you achieve more value faster from your ServiceNow investment. One of the ways it does this is with Impact Accelerators, which are off-the-shelf, fixed scope services engagements that help you achieve targeted value quickly. There are three types of Impact Accelerators, including Strategy Accelerators, Architecture Accelerators, and Technical Accelerators, with each type focusing on a specific aspect of your ServiceNow value journey.

Today, we’re going to look at a specific kind of Technical Accelerator, a Jumpstart Accelerator.

What Is a Jumpstart Accelerator?

It’s an Impact Accelerator that helps you get going quickly and successfully with a new ServiceNow feature or capability that you haven’t implemented previously. For instance, if you are planning to implement Virtual Agent, there’s a Jumpstart Your Virtual Agent Accelerator available that you can request. Each Jumpstart Accelerator typically includes:

  • A temporary instance with the targeted ServiceNow capability or feature installed and/or configured. This is set up by ServiceNow and is a copy of a backup of your selected environment.
  • A coaching session where you will receive:
    • An overview of the feature or capability.
    • A walkthrough demo of the capability on the temporary instance.
    • An overview of business processes supported by the capability, if applicable.
    • A review of what was done to set up the capability on the temporary instance.
    • Identification of any plug-ins that are required.
    • Further guidance where applicable on best practices.
    • Pointers to implementation resources and other relevant content.
    • An optional follow-on coaching session where you can ask further questions and get additional guidance.

Note that the actual content may vary depending on the specific Jumpstart Accelerator.

What Jumpstart Accelerators are available?

There are currently nearly 20 Jumpstart Accelerators available, and the number is growing every ServiceNow release. You can find a full list here. Here are a few examples:

  • The Jumpstart Your CMDB Accelerator gives you a comprehensive overview of ServiceNow CMDB capabilities, including a demo and a deeper dive into areas such as the CMDB Workspace, Identification and Reconciliation Engine, CMDB Data Manager, and CMDB health dashboards.
  • The Jumpstart Your Employee Center Accelerator gives you an overview of Employee Center, ServiceNow’s unified service portal for employees and managers. It includes a review of the portal and employee engagement strategies, a demo of Employee Center, a discussion of implementation approaches, governance and reporting, and pointers to key resources and guides.
  • The Jumpstart Your Automated Testing Accelerator introduces you to the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) and shows you how it can be leveraged to accelerate upgrades and increase quality. It covers the benefits of the ATF, a demo of ATF capabilities, an overview of related tools such as Test Generator and Cloud Runner, leading practice recommendations, pointers to key resources and guides, and 30 days access to the technical consultant delivering the Accelerator.

Also note that you will receive recommendations in the Impact IDE for relevant Jumpstart Accelerators depending on where you are in your ServiceNow journey. For example, if Virtual Agent is one of the key capabilities recommended to support your business objectives and operational outcomes, you may receive a recommendation for the Jumpstart Your Virtual Agent Accelerator.
