Easily find the Impact information you need with the new Impact GenAI Search

Looking for information about your Impact journey? Here’s the good news! We’ve made searching even easier for you using the power of GenAI. The new Impact GenAI Search is powered by Now Assist GenAI capabilities, giving you highly relevant, personalized results along with advanced Now Assist features, such as “Genius” answers that automatically summarize content for you. We’ve also simplified the search experience so you can now search everywhere at once, rather than having to specify whether to search “Inside Impact” or “Across ServiceNow”, and we’ve given you fine-grain control over which information sources to use.

Unlocking the power of GenAI search in Impact

Impact has infused GenAI capabilities into its Search capabilities with the power of Now Assist. In addition to giving you links to existing content, Impact GenAI Search also provides GenAI summary cards. These give you a summary of the most relevant result for your query, helping boost your productivity and efficiency. Here’s an example below.

GenAI summary cards are clearly identified as having been generated by Now Assist. You can always drill down into the original content used to generate the GenAI summary card by clicking on “View Article”. You can also submit feedback on whether the result was useful simply by clicking on Yes or No. AI continuously learns from your feedback to increase the relevancy of results. Note that the Impact team has already trained GenAI summary generation using Impact keywords from the past year to make sure it surfaces highly relevant content based on the keyword.

A unified search experience across Impact and other sources

The first thing you’ll notice when you use the new AI search is that you no longer have to specify whether to search “Inside Impact” or “Across ServiceNow”. Instead of requiring you to make two separate searches, AI Search automatically searches everywhere in one go, giving you all of the results in one place (don’t worry, you can easily filter the search results just to show Impact or ServiceNow results, as we’ll see next).

When you execute a search, you’ll get a list of results, as shown below. With AI Search, we’ve optimized the ordering to increase the relevance of the results you get—so you instantly see what’s most important. Each result shows the source of the result, along with other useful metadata that let you quickly understand the type of information that the result contains.

Easily choose which sources to search

As we said, AI Search searches all sources by default. However, you can easily control which sources you want to see results from. There’s a “Sources” bar on the left-hand side. Simply tick the sources you want to include in your results. For instance, tick “Impact” to select all Impact sources, or select a specific Impact source, such as “Operational outcomes”. You can also select other ServiceNow sources outside of Impact. such as “Knowledge Articles” or “Now Learning”. Tick as little or as many sources as you want—there’s no restriction on how you mix and match them.

Note that when you change your sources, the current search results are updated automatically— there’s no need to rerun the search. The sources you select are also applied to future searches.
