Platform Analytics Academy - April 17th, 2024 - Proactive Analytics
[Music] thank you and welcome to platform analytics Academy on Wednesday April 17 2024 uh see Adam ask where some people are from it's awesome to see that we have people from everywhere so that is really awesome to see and definitely appreciate it so real quickly I'm just going to kind of go over some logistical information and get that out of the way so we can get into the meat of our content today which we're super excited about uh so as usual this is always for you we try as best we can to bring fresh ideas better understanding and practical guidance as it relates to Performance analytics platform analytics reporting things of that nature uh this is being recorded so don't feel like you got to take notes sit back relax enjoy the show uh but if you want to take notes that's great as well but this is being recorded it'll be out in the community either today or tomorrow whenever I get the recording and then we'll also have it out on YouTube as well Q&A please ask questions uh we are here to answer we have panelists uh that are here to answer questions outside of our presenter if there is a question that comes in that is relevant to maybe where we are in the content and we feel it's important to stop there and ask that question we'll definitely do that but again make sure that you ask those questions in the Q&A so we can get them answered there and everyone else can see those and like I said we have panelists who will be typing answers um and not necessarily having to do all of them live if you do have a question that's unrelated to the content that we're covering today feel free to ask those as well we may not necessarily get to those from a live perspective until after we've uh covered all of the content that we're going over today but if one of the panelist that is on is able to answer the question they'll do that for you or they'll definitely send you a link to maybe a previous Academy session or docs or some other sort of uh collateral that we have to help you out with that information so Safe Harbor uh don't necessarily know that there's anything in this today but it's it's always safe for us to mention this so make sure that you understand what Safe Harbor is about and uh don't make any sort of purchasing buying decisions based on anything that you have heard today uh there may be some future information don't know what Amir is going to share at this point as related to that but make sure that you definitely keep this in mind and as usual my name is Thomas Davis and today Amir is here to present uh we have Adam on we have Dan on Dan thank you shout out to you for covering for me last uh two weeks ago nice to take some time off and then we also have RJ and Tara uh shout out to Tara for coming and joining us hadn't seen her in a couple so it's good to see her again and with that today we are going to talk about something new and it's called proactive analytics and this is super super exciting and super useful and just really great information so with that Amir you can definitely take over and share and let's get going thank you Thomas uh I hope I'm audible good morning good afternoon uh good evening to everyone thanks a lot for uh joining the session today so I'm going to go ahead and share my screen as U Thomas mentioned today we'll be covering practive analytics a new initiative uh coming out of service now platform analytics team my name is Amir liata and I'm a product manager on platform analytics team working on proactive analytics uh in today's session so I'm going to go the way uh the format we will follow uh is that I'm going to cover a couple of slide to familiarize you with the uh with a topic and to show kind of some of the background behind proactive analytics and then I I'll jump into a demo um here are the highlights for today's presentation so first I'm going to cover insights proactive insights which are kind of the the central piece in proactive analytics uh I'm going to move on to the proactive triggers which is uh the way in which we are linking insights with flow Automation and then I'm going to finish it off with a demo uh feel free to type in questions and comments and uh I look forward to uh answering those so with that said let me move on to practive analytics so uh just a kind of introductionary slide uh to to to mention all the capabilities that are being included within practive analytics as you can see on the screen here on the right hand side there's a one part of the dashboard that I'm going to demo later on and you can see the inside panel popping from the right hand side so practive insights uh is is a new initiative as I mentioned uh which will provide visibility and observability on the top of the existing indicators uh I'm going to move on to the proactive triggers and see how can we use those insights to trigger uh automated flows WEA flow designer um as you will see there are some new improved Predictive Analytics capabilities where we are combining forecasting uh together with descriptive insights and there are a couple of other topics which I will not get into unless there are some questions like enhanced data exploration inside panel as a component and also a process mining findings so let's uh get into uh proactive uh insights so what I'm going to do now I'm just going to flip through a couple of slides where we have built animation that will help explain some technical background on how we actually approach this proactive insights so of course as any data analytics story we start off from data uh and what we use with a data as you are PR uh familiar uh we are using it to visualize it on on our next experience dashboards so with practive analytics we're kind of taking one step back and we are looking at those analytics dashboard to identify all the kpis that are being used so what we do with those kpis in the background we are feeding them into an inside engine so inside engine is running proactively and is basically encapsulating a number of algorithms based on statistical uh signal analysis and they're listed out here targets thresholds signal detection Trends predictive insights custom insights and process mining insights as you will see you will see later in order to uh obtain some of these inside types there has to be a certain capability enabl U so in the case of Target there has to be a Target defined on a PA indicator or a threshold or a kpi signal activated so we feed all those kpis in an inside engine proactively uh on a regular basis in this case it will be on a daily uh frequency and uh there is uh output uh of that processing and it's being um packaged so to speak in an inside card which is a visual component that will surface later on on an inside panel so as you might guess there might be multiple kpis and multiple inside types and they kind of layer them in an inside panel which is a new component and that inside panel will be surfaced in back on this uh analytics dashboard so this is kind of the schematic and animation that kind of explain what is happening in the background of course in what follows I'm going to drill a bit deeper into the techical and explain um how some of these steps are actually executed but before I do that uh let me just stress when talking about the inside panel let me just say that there are three channels through which one can use inside panel so first channel uh inside panel can be included as a outof thebox cont content uh by some app dashboards and we are working with other service now teams like itm workplace Service uh delivery CSM HR and so on and inside panel you might see in the coming Store app releases as a part of itm success dashboard or itm operational dashboard or S so and so on so that's the first channel and this means that the inside panel will be productized and packaged as a part of those apps the second one which is more kind of a self-service channel is NEX experience dashboards which you had opportunity to learn about in the previous Academy sessions and inside panel will be embedded by default uh in both Technical and inline next experience dashboard and I'm going to show that in demo at the end of this presentation if you're looking for a kind of next level of customization and configuration inside panel is available as a component in the UI Builder which means that it can be added to any page workspace uh or technical dashboard and it offers you the next level of configuration and customization so if you look at these different channel the more we move to the left it's kind of uh uh more geared toward consumtion uh and to the right to towards creation so we are offering kind of both of these options so moving back just to kind of recap uh we are tapping into data and applying analytics uh algorithms to obtain insights and then there is a further step of refinement where we are kind of enriching contextualizing and in some cases aggregating these insights so basically everything that kind of falls under this refinement and then we are visualizing them in a dashboard that's kind of a pretty standard flow but nevertheless I just wanted to recap it once again so uh as you might have seen in previous slide that there are a number of out ofthe box inside types so what I'm going to do now I'm just going to kind of uh go through all of them on a very high level though and just to kind of spend a moment and um uh share a sentence on each and every one of them so they're kind of grouped into descriptive and predictive uh so first let's go through the descriptive ones the first one that you might have seen uh is kpi signal and for for those familiar with the analytics you might know about kpi signal capability that is available and can be activated on any PA indicator uh within kpi detail so basically what this Insight tells us is if there is a anomaly in the behavior of the underlying indicator resulting with some values that are falling outside of the expected range of values so in short it is a kind of a indication of data anomaly the next the next uh inside type is uh something we call Key contributors so this one is is running automatically and what it actually does it is uh slicing dimensions of the underlying indicators and is pointing to a breakdown component or components that are driving this uh anomaly so it might be the case that there is an anomaly on the top level indicator but it might be one or two breakdown components that are causing so it kind of helps you narrow down to a specific dimensions and help you in this uh descriptive analysis uh the third one is threshold breach or Target Mist which is kind of a self-explanatory but it really helps in identifying occurrences where uh the P indicator has breached the threshold that is defined or miss the target um as I mentioned a few minutes ago the assumption is is that the Target or a threshold should be defined for that PA indicator in order to get these insights and the last one is Trend which is again pretty basic computation nevertheless if there is a trend um if if the P indicator is trending in a direction opposite to the direction that U uh the P indicator needs to be optimized uh then we are raising this trend ins of course uh there are some nuances in here which I can get into during the demo so these four are descriptive Insight types uh as I mentioned also uh we're also shipping predictive insights so here we are actually combining two capabilities uh forecasting and thresholds and in this case as in the animation shows here uh what we are doing we are forecasting whether one or two weeks from now the PA indicator will breach the threshold and what is the likelihood of that happening the other one which is very interesting as well is predictive Target Miss so for a given Target there should be a review date specified and what this Insight tells us is likelihood that we're not going to uh reach a Target actually that we're going to miss the target as you will see later the predictive insights are including a couple of information listed out here like what is the predicted value what is the predicted Gap and what is the likelihood of this event uh happening uh next to descriptive and predictive uh we are also adding process mining insights which is relying on process binding U tool which you might be familiar with uh if you are uh then uh what I what I need to stress here that the assumption is that the process mining plug-in is in place and the project is created and process mining findings that are otherwise available in process mining workbench can be included and added to the dashboard next to other insights which is kind of providing that Bridging the Gap between observability and explainability uh and the the the other one are custom insights so uh while we are offering these outof the boox default Insight types there might be other custom insights which are being computed by some of the apps in the case of itm that is Benchmark we also Benchmark insights we also have other examples like automated opportunities or missed opportunities by the bottom line the point of this showing is to uh tell that uh uh this framework inside framework is inclusive in a sense that the custom insights might be added and streamlined and displayed together and next to the available out of the box Insight types so moving on um hey real quick I'm sorry uh because we we've kind of had this question come in a couple times now and I did send uh one of them to the docs and I'm going to actually share that doc site now in the chat but can you talk about um is this free is this a free plugin is this I mean that information so people will know as they they continue to look at it right right so uh Insight panel uh let me say one part of it is free and there is another one that is part of the premium uh PA premium plugin so uh things like targets thresholds are available kpi signals as well whereas uh predictive insights which include forecasting uh they are included as a part of the PA premium so uh even though if you don't even if you don't have P premium plug-in uh you will have access to some of the capabilities and more details we can provide offline but kind of the short answer is uh there is a part of it that is premium and there is a part that is premium thank you thanks perfect yeah that works thank you and feel free to to stop me Thomas because I'm I don't have time to to check all the questions so uh yeah yeah no worries you're good that you're good we we've answered some but that was the one that had came in a couple times so I felt like we needed to go ahead and hit that one so you're good ab totally all right so let's go back and kind of yeah I talked about I spent a few minutes talking about this inside types so what helps really is kind of let's kind kind of ploted on the timeline and there's a lot of information here but bottom line is uh the the the our uh motivation is to answer these three questions pointing to three different time Dimensions so to speak so let's say U if we are looking more in reactive mode we are looking uh into data and what has happened in the last couple of weeks and we can sh we can tell that through Trends and process mining it's kind of more as answering question what has happened the one in the middle is kind of a snapshot at this particular moment or this day where we see if there is a threshold breached or a Target M missed and that's more kind of what is happening it is falling under descriptive Insight type but also we kind of uh we're looking forward and we are using forecasting to tell uh what are what are what are the what is the likelihood that the target might be missed or threshold breach and all of that is kind of bucke tized through predictive insights so these are kind of Three Time dimension and just to kind of say that inside types are trying to cover all three of them so that's that's kind of the the sums up the inside types um I hope I I didn't went too too fast through them of course I'm going to spend a couple of minutes on the demo but before jumping to demo I wanted to share a few uh details on proactive triggers so again we're just kind of building on what I was explaining in the last 15 minutes or or so and proactive triggers are actually embedded in a tool called flow designer which you might be familiar with and it is a part of the workflow studio and kind of U it is it is designed to enable flow automation so as you're going to see in the demo I'm not going to spend a lot of time here but the flow designer is consisting of two pieces essentially one is the trigger and the another one are actions so the trigger defines conditions and logic under which this flow will be executed the trigger is defined once and it can use all of these inside types so with this feature what we're actually enabling uh users is to Define what are the datadriven triggers what are the insights and conditions under which we want certain action to execute automatically so I'm going to show there's a lot of lot of potenti and there's a we're very excited to share this feature and ship it in in Washington uh but basically it gives you opportunity to automate a lot of the uh processes and actions u in your system so that's proactive trigger and I have a short clip here which I will not play instead I'm going to do a quick live demo but essentially we are kind of walking through these steps we start from data compute insights on the top of that data and then move kind of trigger automation with that so that kind of uh completes the presentation part now um I'm going to uh share my screen and and do a quick live demo uh and while I switch my screens uh feel free Thomas if we have any questions or anything I might have missed to mention no no no we we still just have another question just thinking that there's an actual plug-in that has to be has to be uh installed to actually get the insights but it's a it it comes with with watch well actually it may it came early that but it's it's something that you toggle on and off right within the when you edit the dashboard yes so indeed so I'm sharing my uh dashboard here it service Dev can you please confirm you can see it yep all right so I'm GNA I'm going to talk about that part as well so uh in this particular um on the demo on the demo instance we have created a dashboard which can kind of mimic something resembling it service T and the idea here is to display a number of PA indicator and obviously not only there can be multiple kpis on on a single dashboard there can be multiple tabs which all uh goes to say that there can be a lot of things going on on this dashboard and our user Persona in this case let's say process owner might be overwhelmed with all that data and it is definitely a challenge how to digest all of that and how to focus on things that matter at that particular moment so what I'm going to do before kind of jumping into these insights I'm going to kind of go back and and hit edit and navigate to this dashboard setting so I was on a dashboard and I hited this edit button and now I'm in a dashboard setting so here as you can see there are two sections related to dashboards data refresh and presentation and the third one is related to insights so here there there are a number of toggles which you can just kind of um switch on or off and the first one the top level one is essentially to say show insights panel or toggle it off so by default when you go and when you start creating dashboards next experience dashboards uh inside panel will be embedded by default so it this this will be toggled on so there's nothing really you need to enable other than deploying this PA premium plug-in so in that sense there's no additional viring there's no additional config configurations you would have to do U I'm just going to kind of talk through the remaining um toggles here and kind of what helps is uh the short presentation I did just a few minutes ago so you can see here we have three sections the first one uh is descriptive analytics insights Predictive Analytics insights and display settings so descriptive analytics insights basically gives you an opportunity to toggle on or off different inside types and these are all insight types I was talking about a few minutes ago Trends kpi signals key contributors Target thresholds and custom insights now as I mentioned a couple of times in order to have these insights in the case of targets thresholds and kpi signals one would have to either activate kpi signal or set Target or threshold for that PA indicator otherwise we will not have insights computed for these types Trends and key contributors would be automatically computed for any K any PA indicator Predictive Analytics are again predictive targets and thresholds which I spend a few minutes talking about and at the very bottom you have one which is related to uh displaying uh visualization and it goes back to highlighting criticality or severity of a certain Insight so I'm going to spend a moment uh talking about it when I go back to the inside panel so for the purposes and intent of this demo we're just going to toggle on everything and we're going to exit editing mode and our process owner is back on this dashboard so as you can see at the top right corner of the dashboard there is the button insights and there's also notifications so if there are no insights computed for this dashboard there will be no notification do pretty self-explanatory but the point is even uh if you don't have insights uh this will be enabled by default and the button will be here so in this particular case we have a notification dot indicating that there are insights computed for this dashboard so uh what I what I'm going to do now I'm just going to talk through different capabilities we have here and again this is part of the Washington release and it is available and as a matter of fact we are already seeing a number of customers using this uh in side panel so uh at the very top as one might guess there is a number of kpis on this dashboard and for some of them for the purposes of this demo I have set targets and thresholds uh this top level uh kpi filter enables you to filter uh kpis on a specific um indicator because all of them are listed together and they are ranked according to the computation dat so uh at the very top is the the the one that is the most recent again to to stress here given that the demo data is in question the dates might not really correspond to the actual date so at the very top you have U the indicator name uh incident average cat uh we also have an info icon which tells you what is the inside type and the purpose of showing the inside type is to give you an opportunity uh to go back to the dashboard setting things and toggle off in case um certain inside type is not relevant for this dashboard next to the info icon we also have an actions every inside card has two actions that can be taken on one is to Mark as viewed and another one is to remove this card marking the card as viewed indicates that the inside card has been kind of read through and understood and also it can be filtered later on so I'm going to go back to the top left kind of filters and two pills we have just let me go through the rest of the uh inside card uh here the the key message here encapsulate what the Insight is about and in this particular case this is the simplest one I believe there is a threshold set for CET and if it falls below if it's um Falls below one then it should be kind of raised other than that we have also under view more we can show um we can show some additional data what is the gap what is the threshold what is the current value and what is the desired Direction so this is in the case of thresholds in the case of other Insight types let me jump to this one here this is predictive threshold insights in this particular case the message might be different and it is basically seeing and indicating that the kpi is expected to be higher than 80% what is the threshold value on a particular review date and it also add goes to say what would be the projected value in the uh in the supporting information under viw more one can read what is the expected Gap what is the threshold that is set what is the expected projected value and what is the confidence level uh every inside card as you might see here will have uh on the left side this very narrow uh stripe which is basically indicating severity severity uh can take on three values it can be critical or red indicating kind of high severity it can be warning which is in yellow color or it can have information just kind of informative purpose in this case we don't have those so basically U what we are doing with inside card we are assigning this different severity levels to say what you know what is the extent to which threshold was bridged or Target missed so these are different inside cards as uh as you can see every inside card uh you have an opportunity and there's a called kind of call to action button and you can drill down and you can look into it bit deeper so you can go to the kpi details for this one and you can U it's going to load in a moment and you can look and you can explore data further in this case we have a threshold so that threshold can be further tuned so those are kind of the capabilities that are offered through uh inside panel and um I can I can I of go into more details but I believe for the purposes of this demo this uh should be sufficient now I don't want toe a hi hi Amir can I just ask I think we had a couple of questions that are both related that just that just came in I think they will kind of work together um are there insights so who all has permissions or what roles have permissions to be able to see and interact with the Insight cards can anyone on the D anyone who any viewer of the dashboard uh yes yes and interact and interact with the insights uh yes it can so not only that but also the actions that the specific user can take on it like viewed or remove those are kind of uh user specific and will not have impact on another viewer of the same dashboard okay so I could remove it in my Dash as an end user from my dashboard but it won't remove it for another person yes exactly good perfect thank you great so indeed I mean there are further kind of details and aspects to this which obviously um go beyond like time that we have allocated for this but definitely all of this will be available in the do M mentation and not only that but all the kind of guidelines and explanation on how to use inside panel as a component in uib and there we have far more customization and configuration capabilities that uh that will be available in the product documentation uh if if uh if we still have some time I would like to spend just a few minutes on this uh flow designer so I'm just going to show you give you a very quick tour over flow designer and talk about this proactive triggers so what I'm going to do I'm opening a workflow studio and um specifically we want to go to a flow designer so I've just created one test uh test Academy flow and what we want to go and we want to edit this flow so as I was talking about there are two parts to this there's the trigger and the action so setting up the trigger is super simple so you just kind of Select trigger navigate to application and select proactive analytics so next uh thing that happens uh proactive analytics trigger is added and one can kind of scroll through uh different inside types that are available and that you might that you have seen on a dashboard so let's say we want to talk about uh Target Mist so I believe the the Target that we were uh analyzing was incident average C that so we can set the target uh we can uh set the gap or we can remove it uh and also uh we can um configure criticality and we can set the event date actually time when this flow will start to execute so I'm not going to play a lot with the trigger part and then the action part is added here and the action uh there are uh hundreds and thousands of action subow so again I'm not going to go into detail in the interest of time but let me see if I can just select one specific uh super simple action type also to show you the capabilities of data pills which you might see on um on the right hand side so I'm gonna I'm going to see if I can just select simple email so let's say uh we want to notify U it manager in case certain uh Target is Miss so what you can specify uh who is receiving an email and the subject and the body of the message so what is really nice is that the message can be D dynamically composed out of using by using this data pills on the right hand side panel and let's say we want to include uh what is the uh what is the record um which table we use uh what is the indicator so let's say I can just pull in here uh the table and I can type the the message and use maybe some other data pills that are available here or like indicator name right and this is how I can use it in subject so what happens after we kind of click done and save it and test it and activate every time this trigger this condition is met every time the indicator uh misses the target this flow will be fired and triggered and it will the action specified here will be executed so this means that we don't no one has to be on the dashboard checking for this inside panel and actually we can automate that U whole experience so I'm going to stop here and check if we have further questions in the interest of time uh I mean these are some uh specific questions I don't know if you want to look at them or if you or if this ends up being covered as you continue um can you see the Q&A uh yes of course so the first one would special calls variation appear as an Insight Card I.E there are data points outside the control limits and yeah it's very specific as well wouldn't that be part of kpi details yes part is kind of kpi details is included within insights exactly exactly so in case for a certain PA indicator let's say um let's me see if we activate kpi details um let me see if we're going to get anything so the point is um okay so here we we have an outlier identified so what happens if we activate kpi detail for a certain uh indicator and we go back here next time the insights are computed the the engine will detect that there is a kpi signal activated for and enabled for this uh indicator and there will be new insight generated here so if I would run now ad hoc those jobs which are scheduled to run at midnight we would see new inside type here uh specifically kpi signal Insight type and we would indeed see this U message that the data points are outside the control limit so I mean it depends as you might be aware there can be different outcomes of that kpi signal if it's a short run if it's a long run uh or if it's a single anomaly but indeed like the message that you have written here and like the the type of messages you would see only if you would go to kpi details the check on this kpi signal this will be basically automatically retrieved consolidated refined and pushed here alongside other uh Insight types um so get to the other one or yeah yeah yeah I'm just going through that so if someone takes an action one of the Insight is there a way in which we can comment and track outcomes of setting side so that uh well as of as of now so this is really good point and of course as you might imagine uh this being the first release when we are shipping productive insights uh we wanted to take a sensible approach and there was only so so much we could deliver but definitely uh kind of the next leg of this U Journey or actionability is something we have considered so specifically to answer your question the collaboration and tracking is something we're considering in the current and and coming releases so definitely something you might uh see in the in the releases after Washington that being sented to Oklahoma and Zurich uh in this Washington that is uh not yet available but the C collaboration aspects like uh assigning or or kind of just marking uh that the certain that someone um carried out action as on the basis of this insights is something we're planning in the coming releases and yeah Amir if I if I can add to that um I think that's a larger um a larger goal that we pursue as analytics as a whole like this case it's it's on on insights and insight cards but in general analytics and context anything that you can deliver as context to the analytics that you're consuming is super valuable and and that's actually like like to what Amir is mentioning that's very much our goal we want to figure out how can we enable uh the subject matter expert that actually consuming some analytics that know the context that know that the subject matter expertise to to contribute that story of what is happening and why and and whether they want to track something maybe even going Beyond just commenting or annotating something but actually uh some collaboration on it and really tracking it over time so um with Safe Harbor applied and I know that Thomas showed it at the start that that is absolutely one of the things that we are looking at larger than just insights as well y thanks one one more one one more thing and I was actually chatting with Mark on a different one where he mentioned um he didn't see the settings toggle in inside panel on um inside the uh uh what is it the dashboard settings so if you go into the dashboard settings um it's sure that one not being there but while still being on a Washington instance did I miss it but is there still a something like an extra plugin that you need to enable uh yes so the only plugin that would have to be installed would be Pa premium so okay yeah but that's just the basic that's just the base premium and say like that not the base yeah that's the one but if it's there and you should have on a Washington instance on a dashboard you should have that show insights panel toggle and you can turn it on there yeah so I think it's it's if you type in performance analytic D premium probably you'll be able to activate it this is the only one you would need yeah in the plugins list but um and just to clarify you know there's one other question about the it7 version of that there are variants of the performance analytics premium plugin that'll say like uh performance analytics premium for service management and that those do mean the same thing if it's said if it starts with performance analytics premium that means the same thing y right and thanks a lot RJ for chiming in and just one one important um comment uh on the inside car as you can see every inside card has call to action and by default we are directing a user to a kpi detail speech however if you are using and configuring inside panel as a component in uib you actually have opportunity to specify any page or link to which you want to drive user for given Insight type so if your flow kind of workflow is very specific and given the the that you know specific PA indicator and insight type you can customize it and and drive it to another page and that can kind of help and further Elevate the actionability um Dimension okay I don't think there's any more there not that I see though yeah you're good go forth Okay so uh I believe that sums up the demo for today that I prepared um of course what I can share you know having Safe Harbor in mind uh we have in the upcoming releases which is sanadu we have uh continued on kind of delivering capabilities on the top of this inside panel and that has to do with linking data visualizations uh which will give you an opportunity to filter uh insights from a specific data Vis um I can just give you a quick preview of that so what you can see here are which you can see here are notification dots that are not only on the inside tab but also on uh specific data Vis which kind of helps you narrow down insights for a specific PA indicator uh also we have further evolved and we have been aggregating insights so in case over a certain period of time U insights of same or similar type are being computed for the same indicator we are aggregating them and grouping in under the same message also there are some updates on the design and next to that we have been also working on suggestions and automating the creation of process mining findings but um again I'm not get go uh into that at this point just to kind of to give you a preview that uh we are continuing development on this capability and there is uh uh more and more Innovations in the pipeline so with that I would U complete the demo and I would hand it back to you Thomas if we have further questions or if you have some final remarks to make sure thank you Amir awesome really appreciate you going over that and talking to it and actually demoing it so um here is a great opportunity we have uh about 15 minutes left so if there are any questions uh please add those um he may not be ready for it but I will call on Adam I don't know if he has anything that he wants to add um if you don't that's great but any questions here's a good time unrelated or related to the content that we've covered to you know here's an opportunity for you to get a few minutes has there been previous Academy on kpi yes there has I will grab that I feel like Adam was getting ready to say something but I will grab that and I will put it into the question well I I will just say through all this this is one of my uh favorite features that that we've released to come through um a few of us on this call have been working with uh reporting and performance analytics for a decade and this is one of the biggest advances with the proactive analytics whether it's servicing surfacing uh on the dashboard the things you need to look at the workflow or the flow triggers are amazing my goal has always been to stop looking at reports stop having people just scan data to find things it's too hard our our organizations are too big there's too many moving BS but when the analytics can Surface important things for me to look at or even better automatically fire a flow and take action give me recommendations help me out and get started so that all I have to do is say yes and no yes or no it's so amazing and Powerful on how we can improve our organization's efficiency right I I don't want to pay people just to be scanning over tabs of data and clicking through next next next looking for some anomaly to take action I want to think about what are those anomalies I want to look for and have it automatically do that and whether that is uh firing a task to have somebody do a deep dive I don't need to look at a report find an issue then ask somebody to go do a deep dive then come back to me a few days later why not if I if I'm look if I'm looking to breach my slas uh my SLA uh goals for the month I'm gonna breach I'm not gonna make my target why not have the manager of that group proactively figure out what to do so we do make it rather than looking at back La back at last month saying I didn't make it let's let's figure out how we're going to make it this month how we're going to make it this quarter um just some amazing things that we can hook in with workflow Automation and get the most out of the service now platform which is a workflow platform uh so the platform analytics experience has made everything look great which is nice I appreciate it but the proactive analytics is going to make us work great so I'm glad we're all here to to see this and look what's in here I'm very excited about this release and future releases too as this grows awesome thank you Adam I i' also I think it'd be interesting to hear I mean any does anyone have any initial you just I realize you've all just some of you just start just seeing this is there any additional thoughts I mean what what do you think of does this at least initially seem like a usable functionality for you can you can either put it in the chat or you can John Kelly says yes yes this rocks yeah okay he is asking again about the license we need again uh so PA premium will give you the ability ility to see it and Pa premium incl is part of the pro subscriptions for each of your applications so for example if you have itsm Pro that includes PA premium if you have uh if you have HR Pro that includes PA premium so it's that's so this is kind of a heads up on that so PA premium is not Universal to all applications it is so it is possible that you could have Pro for one application and not pro for another but in general yeah if you have a pro subscription then you have PA premium yeah and and as we talk about platform analytics the the general just is it's not just something you're going to add we're we're this is much more of a rename to come through as we expand and add more functionality uh to to come through more than performance analytics is where we see platform analytics come in uh most of it is back entitled uh to come through this isn't something you need to to go by if you were able to do indicators to Performance analytics you're generally going to be able to do everything that we're showing now um if you weren't able to create indicators then some of this you get but but the the things that are indicator focused you won't be able to so most of us are going to be able to use this as soon as we upgrade without having to go purchase something else okay so there are a couple um couple questions or comments more about uh workspaces are workspaces a new way of consuming dashboards and for workspaces is that next experience uh are the terms interchangeable so in Vancouver uh you would have seen platform analytics workspace as a menu item at the top of the uh instance itself so platform analytics um with experience on it just the overall experience is the same thing it's now in the filter Navigator when you uh actually if you're new if you're somebody new that's what you're going to see in Washington uh but there's a migration process as well that gives you the ability to take um your previous dashboards when you're ready to to do that to migrate them over up until a certain release that we have where it becomes mandatory but we have some sessions that we actually talked about that but workspaces uh was something that was attached to it in Vancouver but now it is just platform analytics and that will be something that you will be able to search for in the filter Navigator in uh Washington and actually be able to see that and RJ I don't know if there's anything that you want to add to that no basically what I just have done I I pasted the URL of the enablement toolkit also in the chat um but I know you also have it in in one of these slides to actually get there there's a ton of enablement content information on specifically that um not not just that change and that migration but also the value proposition uh all the the great stuff that comes with platform analytics experiences uh but also the um explanation to specifically that question as in hey how how do we see those both uh like what what is a dashboard what used to be a dashboard what is a dashboard right now but also how is that in context with the uis that you might consume as part of U as part of workspaces something like that and and indeed to what Thomas just mentioned um the way how we're looking at it now is the um analytics capability the analytics feature we don't see as part of a u what we would call a workspace because we we think a workspace follows this this pattern of where it's very much tied around a single Persona does does a certain usually a single task um with with analytics that's not the case we believe analytics is just part integrated fully as part of the platform and therefore we we're using that those new capabilities uh those new uh Tex TXS and everything and all the the the benefits that come with it but we are literally just marketing and uh messaging as well as putting it out there as a a separate experience where you can then use all your dashboards your your data visil creation your kpi consumption as part of that new experience okay and um Colette very similar so what is the difference between dashboards and data visualizations and platform analytics and can you add insights to each so data visualizations is what may be the best way for you to understand is formally what you would call a widget but now data visualizations that is what you would add to a dashboard uh and data visualizations have a lot of power they can have multiple different data sources again we have a really great session that uh or sessions that we talked about that and as RJ uh said before one of the slides that you'll see here shortly is we actually have toolkits uh real quick hit or videos that you'll be able to access where it'll actually show you how to create data visualizations and talk about uh the different ways that you can create those and things of that sort so forly that would be the best way to say is a widget uh but now we're calling them data visualizations going forward and the Insight is on the dashboard um based on the data data visualization that you actually attach to it yeah and part of that's because a data visualization actually expands the capabilities of widgets so you can use them in more context not just on a dashboard so you can use them on workspaces you can use them in form I mean you can make them on you know so you can put them all over the place so so there is one about scheduled list reports I believe we had a session on that I need to look for that so um Anonymous I don't know who that is but I will I will look for that particular session where we talked about that and I'll actually attach it to this session in the community so you'll be able to uh get that information there um so real quickly because I have some thoughts on this but I'm curious to see the other people so we want to stand standardize some of uh the out of the box indicators is a good idea to change the name with prefix official does it become maintenance burden during upgrade to watch out uh watch out skip records what is the best way to handle uh this situation um I I like very distinct names as it relates to whatever content that you have out there regardless if it's indicators or or whatever that way when people search they'll actually know uh what's out there rather than recreate as it relates to an upgrade sort of issue if something that is out of the box is renamed Adam do you have any insight on that um so in the in the New World in platforms we have the certified flag so we want to use we want to use that um and and actually we're looking at a couple I think we were talking about some Academy sessions about how to uh maintain that a little bit better that's an area that we're going to explore and communicate out to you um yeah I I use I use naming conventions I'm not proud of it I hate naming convention ions um I I I I dislike that we need to do it but I do it and then the namey conventions I'll put on the indicator um and then especially when they show up when when you're picking them you can find it and then I'll just I'll change the display value right in the when I'm putting it in the widget I'll probably get rid of I'll probably get rid of the naming convention um what's really common um is that I'll have a short prefix colon and then the name uh makes it easy to group um we can use indicator groups as well that that works uh well but indic naming prefix makes things easier to find um until there's a better a better option so if whether you put a fishal or or what or something that's fine and then we want to move into using the certified flag for the visualizations and and the certified flag for for dashboards so that we know this is being maintained by the Antics team it's not just something somebody wrote and shared with you thanks Adam and that's and today the certified flight if you're moving into that so and in coreui I believe we don't have it in platform analytics we do have the certified flag there is a role so um there's a role that that you can give to somebody who can Market certified uh but that's the path I'd want to go down is is using that certified and then maybe we can go ahead and Tackle this one maybe I don't know if it' be quick or not but um is there a way to share different tabs of dashboards to different audiences uh I'm I mean I'm sure that there's probably some scri some scripting that can be done to do something like that but RJ do you have any in in the new world is that going to be is there is there ability to do that tab specific uh I don't believe it's tab specific yet um we can do more things with tabs with with duplication I think you can even move them more easily around to other dashboard so there there is an easier way to to practically move your tab into being another dashboard and then share that one um but that that would be a work around but I I uh I'd love to understand more about this uh that use case and and bring it back to the team for a for better consideration yeah the only the only thing that I could think uh first thing that pops in my head is that if you have a if you have a dashboard that maybe has four tabs on it just as an idea four tabs and all four of those tabs represent a different team within your organization maybe you want one of those one of those tabs only certain people can see and then the tab another person can see I and and maybe even if it's One dashboard um whatever tab that they can see is the only one that's visible when they open it it doesn't show four tabs or I don't know that's just a thought that popped in my head of a use case maybe and I absolutely get that one I think that that one is is valid I think we always looked at it from one level higher than than if it's a specific group um audience based it's probably on a dashboard level that that you can share with that audience with that user with that role with that team um Etc um but I I I think it's absolutely interesting to further look at and then see what we can do there and we are coming off the top of the hour um Adam might hit you up real quick for these uh licensing questions you you're really locked in on that so if we have PA premium as part of app engine unrestricted user can we use it for itsm ETC and then the another one is can we be a standard license but purchase and use a PA premium plugin the licensing question is the answer is always the same it depends talk to your account rep um that's the that's the official answer um the first one was app engine for itm um and the answer there is is no the entitlement for for uh generally the entitlement for platform analytics Advanced um and performance analytics as well is that it's restricted to the space that you're uh that you've licensed it for so if I have itm Pro I can use it for itm but not for HR if I have HR Pro uh then I can use it for HR but not for itm if I have HR pro and itm pro then have at it uh platform tables are covered uh regardless so if you were doing it on CIS user using it on the knowledge base that's that's fine regardless but the the tables that come with the apps the performance analytics contract the normal contract says that performance analytics and then platform Advanced is uh restricted to use for that app app engine is for your custom tables that you're mapping to app engine um some of it will let you do it to go on a subr um but that is it's against the contract and it is supposed to be restricted to the space that that you licensed it for um the second one was if I have standard can I get performance analytics um talk to your account uh your account rep if there's an option it depends on the on the product itself um and and what's available uh we used to license it that way but now today generally it's in Pro um but talk to your account rep about what come uh the one that talks about identifying duplicate redundant reports state of visualization dashboards we actually did a session late last year that I'll put um I'll grab the link and I make sure that it's with it within the uh recording in the community that actually can give you some really good insights and and that uh it's called housekeeping and we actually did that session as a prep to think about whenever um someone would to start using the migration tool so that one uh I'll make sure that that's that's inside the community event as well and Adam has typ one I don't know if anybody wants to grab that last one there um about PA dependency and Pa objects or whatnot or maybe we can just recommend that they ask that into the community and see if they can get the answer looking for there we have the dependency Tree in in corei oh instead of doing that uh yeah it's a CH I don't believe that is and RJ can you speak to and my understanding is that at least as of Washington it's not available as an option in in platform analytics experience but do you know anything more detail about that no no sorry Dan I okay to put you on the spot but I was just thinking this I I didn't know that it was deprecated because and it's on the the Cori page but uh it isn't it is an API so I I know in the past I've written something that just Expos that just called the API directly uh and then materialized the data into um uh materialize the data into a table that we could report on um the problem is things are complex and moving underneath you with all the changes so that's why it's done interactively through the clicking um but you can do it some other ways um and if I if I were going to do it I would just put a script around that around the API you can see what it if you go look at the UI action you can see it what it does and you can build around it um I would not invest a lot of time in the core UI stuff because in the not too distant future we'll be moving to to platform analytics and things get um I don't know if they're simpler but they're um they're more consistent and more options so you really want to make sure you're using the API stuff and and I think uh as we have our our inbound counterparts in here we do need to make sure we have this addressed to understand change impacts and how that app goes through uh that it needs to be more than one at a time or at least at a dashboard level understand where where is my source data coming from all right so we'll we're kind of over here but I do want to kind of um so again make sure you're using our community this information be out uh there now training or now learning there's some great sessions there so this is what we were talking about a little bit earlier so if you're you're not uh real familiar yet with platform analytics uh this toolkit that we have out on the community is a really good source for you to get those quick hitter videos that show you how to create um what is what is something you know uh what What's before and after so after you do the migration what does things certain look like so this this is a really good uh place for you to go and um get some good videos and it also has links to some existing acms that will give you some value there as well we are still doing this uh platform analytics research survey so if you're interested in playing a part in that that helps us with the the future as it relates to platform analytics and things of that sort please uh scan that QR code and um do that so A couple quick things about a knowledge so as it relates to platform um analytics Academy we will not have another live session until uh June because in uh May is blocked off for us now so we want to focus all on knowledge but so just know in two weeks there will not be a session it'll pick back up um in June uh but the information of what the next sessions will be out on the community so you'll know so real quick I just kind of want to uh show some of the sessions that we are we have lined up this the ones that are showing here doesn't necessarily mean that the platform outbound team or the inbound team people that are on the call today are the ones that are specifically doing them but I just want to make sure that I search for anything that had performance analytics platform analytics so these are some general ones uh what's new with platform analytics and I believe that that is uh RJ so you've heard RJ if you've heard him you'll get to meet him in person if you're there I think he's doing that one uh there is some uh performance analytics stuff as it relates to itsm uh platform analytics and process mining really great one there and then um using The Cutting Edge analytics experience and doing things within a now platform there are a couple Creator con sessions migrating your analytics content to the new platform analytics experience Dan I think that you're you're doing that right so there's a couple sessions there Dan will have a part of partner Mar I think they're doing this right Dan I know I know yes we sorry my mute button try to get to my there are some uh some now learning sessions that are happening as well uh when you're there so you can take advantage of those and then we do have some now and now sessions as well that kind of talk about dashboards uh gen and some SE dashboard things that are be there as well listen there's a lot more than just that as especially as it relates to platform which is our our team holistically but from my analytics and that's what the call that you're on I want to make sure that I highlight those so if you are going to knowledge if you're already signed up for knowledge I think everybody that's on this call will actually be there so we'll have a booth uh platform analytics booth there will be a process mining Booth there'll be a lot of booths so if you um have not met us in person or if you have a question um or just come in to say hello see us again please visit our booth and if you can get to any of our sessions we'd love to see you and with that sorry for going over seven minutes but thank you uh for coming and this information will be out a little bit later on today Amir thank you again for great quality content and we really appreciate it
