this video is going to look at the add work note link to context action in a flow designer or um AKA workflow studio so this feature has been around since uh at least San Diego it looks like because if we go back to the release version here in the docs uh it's still available um so this thing's been around a while I just I never noticed it uh until recently so I figured I'd make a video on it um what does it do it uh you can add a work note if I'm in an incident here and I had a flow created and it will add a work note uh flow execution started to the flow that started right so uh that would be useful for like catalog items or uh those kinds of things incidents as well basically any task that uh you have flows behind and you want to put that in the work notes uh that this flow started so previously this was done manually I used to do this manually uh sometimes create the link to the context or other times just have some work note in there about uh you know a flow has started just to alert the fulfiller that there was something going on in the background uh that was you know potentially changing values on the on the record uh so let's take a look at uh this in well what is now workflow studio uh previously known as flow designer so I'm in a Washington DC PDI uh and I have a uh a new flow here test flow for incidents my trigger is just an incident is created or updated and so my action uh it's in service now core and it's add work note link to context and then we'll just drag over the trigger record into here so the journal field is the work notes and additional comments so you can put something else in here you know uh flow has uh you know flow execution might that might scare some uh non-it people so how about just flow has started and we'll do that we'll do none and we'll activate this thing okay and then I'll just go over here and I will create an incident and we'll just see it in action but it's it's pretty straightforward here save that and then boom so the flow starts and the thing comes in here so it's going to take me here I don't think I have reporting turned on yeah so I get this error because I don't have reporting turned on but if you turned on reporting you'd then be able to see the uh the execution of the flow in the uh context uh in the operational view uh so that's it that is um this add work note link to content action very useful action for flow designer
