That’s what Tony Krauter has done. He was working as a technical support specialist when his company purchased ServiceNow for its helpdesk. Tony was enthusiastic about ServiceNow and started to take on new responsibilities beyond his support role. Within a few years, he was working as a full-time ServiceNow administrator.

Now, Tony’s the ServiceNow platform product owner at EBSCO, an information services company headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. He says that his experience working at a helpdesk has given him critical insights that he draws on every day as a product owner—it helps him to really understand customer service and see issues both from the customer’s perspective and from an IT point of view.

Tony’s passion for learning has played a huge part in his success. He says he got hooked on Now Learning and took advantage of many of the free online training offerings. Building on this foundation, he’s gone on to become a Certified ServiceNow Administrator (CSA), which he explains really strengthened his ServiceNow admin knowledge. And Tony’s pursuits of learning and growth go beyond ServiceNow—he’s recently completed his Master of Science in Information Technology, and he’s also an Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner.

Tony’s also a leader in the ServiceNow community. He regularly attends Knowledge conferences, which he says keeps him energized and excited about the ServiceNow platform. He’s been recognized as a rising star in the community for his dedication to helping other community members, answering questions, and sharing his experiences. He’s also participated in many other ServiceNow activities, including being on a product advisory council and working on his local SNUG planning committee and customer advocacy program.

What’s the result of Tony’s drive and commitment? He says that ServiceNow has had a great impact on his life. Without stepping up to the challenge of becoming a ServiceNow admin, he doesn’t know where his career would be today. ServiceNow has also given him the opportunity to work with multiple customers, which has given him insights into a wide range of industries and company cultures. And he continues to pursue his ServiceNow journey with passion, keeping abreast of the latest ServiceNow innovations and acting as a true champion both in his company and the ServiceNow community.
