RiseUp with ServiceNow: How Scott Tuck has forged a bright future for his family
Meet Scott Tuck. He’s built a rewarding ServiceNow career as Director of Enterprise Service Management at CereCore, a healthcare IT service provider and ServiceNow partner. Now, he’s giving back by helping other people to RiseUp with ServiceNow just like he did.
Scott was born in a small town in Tennessee and grew up with his grandparents. Money was always tight, especially after his grandfather—the family’s only source of income—passed away when Scott was eight. Scott also has cerebral palsy, which makes what he’s accomplished in his life all the more remarkable.
After graduating high school, Scott attended a technology college and then joined Dell as a Client Technical Support Analyst in 2007. Although Scott appreciated his job at Dell, he was on an entry-level salary, making it difficult for him to provide for his family. Then, Scott’s break came when he was assigned to a Dell client team working with ServiceNow.
Even though Scott was primarily generating ServiceNow reports in this role, he liked what he saw with ServiceNow and decided it could be a real opportunity for him. He applied for a position as a ServiceNow Business Analyst at Asurion and was hired. Scott says he’s incredibly grateful that Asurion took a chance on him since he only had limited experience, pointing out that he wouldn’t be where he is today without this. He still remembers getting into his car after learning about the offer and having tears in his eyes. The salary was more than he had ever imagined, opening up a secure and prosperous future for his family.
Scott made the best of that opportunity. He set about building his ServiceNow skills, becoming a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator. During his time at Asurion, he also benefited the encouragement and mentorship of his manager, and from working with a talented team of ServiceNow developers. Both his experience and passion for ServiceNow grew by leaps and bounds.
Fast forward to today, and Scott is now at CereCore, where he has overall responsibility for ServiceNow and other key platforms. He’s built an experienced team providing expert managed and professional services to healthcare organizations, allowing his customers to offer better services and experiences to their patients. He says it’s the perfect role for him since he now gets to “sell” the benefits of a platform he truly believes in to other businesses. He also says that CereCore is a great place to work, and that with the enthusiastic support of his management, he and his talented team have been able to build something special together.
Scott wants others to succeed like he has. That’s why he’s giving back by helping young people RiseUp with ServiceNow. He’s on the advisory board for multiple Information Technology programs at technical schools and has introduced RiseUp in several of these. Students are now getting a solid introduction to ServiceNow, and some have even received job offers at CereCore. Scott explains that it’s a joy to share with students how ServiceNow has changed his life and to see them becoming motivated to succeed like he has.
