How Chan Ibrahim finally has a challenging career she loves
When you RiseUp with ServiceNow, you build a career doing the best work of your life. If you’re looking for a new start, there’s a place for you in the ServiceNow ecosystem, no matter what your background.
Chan Ibrahim is a perfect example. She spent over a decade in a culmination of roles, including supervisory and management, as well as in an operations manager role, but she felt something was missing. While the work was demanding, it didn’t challenge her. So, as she puts it, she decided to look for a career in an industry where she could thrive, learn, and grow. She also knew technology was the future, so IT was an obvious choice.
After researching different IT career paths, Chan started to hear about ServiceNow. She says everything she heard was positive and encouraging, so she decided to learn more about the Now platform.
While Chan was a civilian, she was also a military dependent, which meant she could access the US Department of Defense SkillBridge program. She applied for a ServiceNow NextGen externship under the program since ServiceNow is a SkillBridge partner. After a successful interview, she was accepted into NextGen.
Chan explains that the 16-week program was challenging but very rewarding. In fact, she calls it a life-changing experience. She learned a huge amount about ServiceNow during those 16 weeks — everything from platform administration and IT Service Management implementation through to JavaScript and developing applications. She also says it was a great way to connect with future colleagues and build friendships.
Once Chan successfully completed the NextGen program, she was able to access additional coaching, mentorship, and other career preparation tools. And that preparation paid off! She quickly secured a position with a ServiceNow Elite Partner as a technical analyst/ServiceNow developer. Along the way, she has become a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA, Certified Implementation Specialist (CSA), and Certified Application Developer (CAD), further building the skills she needs for a bright career in the ServiceNow ecosystem.
What’s the result? Chan says she has finally found a career that matches her personality and aspirations. She loves working in IT, and particularly with the Now Platform. She’s particularly enthusiastic about the opportunity to learn and grow even more, since, as she explains, there are so many different areas to work in and explore.
You can build a meaningful and fulfilling career just like Chan. Countless people around the world RiseUp with ServiceNow, building a career where their potential is recognized and their abilities are rewarded. It’s time for you to make a change, and that time is today.
