We will more talk here on Discovery Part.

So in terms of Manufacturing Industry what extra components come in environment compare to Typical IT Environment. Below Diagram will explain more.

To Accommodate manufacturing devices Service Now Gives CMDB top-up Class for OT.

You Can see OT Classes in CMDB CI Class Manager.

Each Classes can be expanded from the Parent Class as below -

So we have already placeholder for OT CI in CMDB. once we run the OT Device Discovery devices will be populated in CMDB.

We need to Install OT Discovery Plugin to start with OT Device Discovery.

Guided Setup for OT Discovery is available and can be easily consumed.

Service Now OT Discovery Inherits many tables from Parent Discovery Application like

OT Discovery Schedule (ot_discovery_schedule) inherits from Discovery Schedule (discovery_schedule) Table of Service Now.

Credentials and Credential Alias , IP Affinity works the same way as it work for IT Components discovery

Just like Standard discovery we need mid server in OT Network , so discovery can take place.

Few extra attribute we get as a part of OT Discovery Schedule like

Purdue Level , Zone and ISA Entity Site

Role of Purdue level is very important as it controls in which Level we are going to Run Discovery.

Discovery for Operational Technology processing can take place in the given Purdue levels, depending on which you select when you create an OT discovery schedule.

So preferred PurDue Level for Discovery is Generally -3,3.5 4,5 etc.

Warning- To avoid the possibility of disrupting your manufacturing operations, you should not run

Discovery processes against Purdue levels 0 through 2 in your ICS networks.
