ServiceNow Impact and the Utah release: New capabilities, new possibilities

Import · Apr 22, 2023 · article

Since the launch of ServiceNow Impact last year, more than one thousand of our customers have put it to work to help them maximize the return on their investment in ServiceNow. That’s because Impact helps them overcome some of the key value-related challenges they face with any enterprise solution.

First, Impact helps them address the lack of expertise within their organization. Some organizations just don’t have the in-house skills to take full advantage of cutting-edge innovations. Impact helps fill that gap. Next, Impact offers personalized guidance, so our customers adapt their use of ServiceNow solutions to fit their unique processes and industry needs. And finally, Impact accelerates the time to value with ServiceNow. Businesses can’t wait for their technology investment to pay off. They need to see results quickly. Impact shortens the journey to value realization.

But we also realize your needs and challenges keep evolving—and that’s why we’re always extending and enhancing Impact. So, here’s a quick review of Impact’s new capabilities with the Utah release.

Additions to the Impact Accelerator catalog

The Impact Accelerator catalog is a menu of fixed-scope, “bite-sized,” offerings that connect you with the right expertise at the right time. New accelerators available with the Utah release include:

  • Introduction to CxO Dashboards - Explore what’s possible with C-suite dashboards that improve executive visibility, and see a demo in your own instance.
  • Jumpstart Your CIO Dashboard - Get practical guidance for setting up the CIO Dashboard application— with a preview using your own data and a temporary copy of your instance.
  • ITSM Maturity Assessment - Access personalized recommendations to improve adoption following an analysis of your ITSM maturity score.
  • Jumpstart Your Success Dashboard - Learn how to set up a Success Dashboard for IT Service Management and HR Service Delivery.

New proactive and preventive tools

Instance Observer is the ServiceNow monitoring solution for tracking the health of all your ServiceNow instances in one place. With the Utah release, we’ve added the following new ways to improve visibility into your instance health:

  • Centralized reporting tab - Streamline your access to daily performance metrics, data on performance trends, and insight on database growth.
  • Enhanced alerting - Choose your preferred method for receiving alerts, with options for SMS, third-party integration, ServiceNow workflow, and email.
  • New performance data - Review new datasets on history list length, node memory – max, and standby replica lag for detailed insight into emerging issues.

Relevant insights and recommendations

When it comes to digital transformation projects, one size doesn’t fit all. It’s critical to track how ServiceNow capabilities help you reach your specific goals—and how the resulting improvements translate into measurable value. You also need personalized recommendations on how to drive ongoing improvement. These new Impact enhancements are designed to help you do exactly that:

  • Product adoption roadmap - Get personalized recommendations for adopting ServiceNow applications that align with your business objectives.
  • Business value reports - Generate reports designed to help the C-suite see the value realized to date per ServiceNow product.
  • Operational performance reporting - Provide platform owners regular check-ins with ServiceNow experts to review progress on operational objectives—along with guidance for achieving value faster.
  • Activity Center - Track how Impact activities align with your business objectives.
