Is Service Portal being deprecated?
The short answer is no.
The longer answer is that there are no plans at present to replace Service Portal with a different product. Several products produced by ServiceNow rely upon the Service Portal framework, including that of the CSM Portal and Employee Center. These products continue to see ongoing investment, and maintain robust roadmaps with biannual releases for the foreseeable future.
A huge number of our customers continue to invest in their Service Portals, and thus we are committed to supporting them into the future.
But AngularJS is deprecated?
ServiceNow maintains its own version of AngularJS, which we plan to continuously maintain and enhance as required for the foreseeable future.
If you are interested in how we maintain the security and integrity of our AngularJS library, review the support guide here.
But what about UI Builder?
UI Builder is a page builder that uses the Next Experience UI Framework, which is built on web components standards that are similar to React. It is used in a manner similar to Service Portal, in that they both are used to build custom user experiences, however, as of today it is designed for use only in specific use cases. You can learn more here.
How can I modernize my current Service Portal?
The recommended approach is to invest in upgrading to Employee Center. It provides a superior employee experience compared to the previous base Service Portal (/sp) experience.
Employee Center is focused on providing a portal that serves all departments within your organization. Both the portal foundations and associated widgets receive continual updates to serve use cases you’re facing now and in the future.
See this community article for a FAQ on Employee Center.
