It was 8:43 a.m. on a Monday when the first email hit the ServiceNow inbox.

“My payroll is wrong again. Please fix this. I’m tired of chasing five teams.”

In the old days, this would have created chaos.

A human agent would open a playbook.

Another team would log into three systems.

An RPA bot would break because the payroll UI changed last night.

Someone would Slack someone else.

And somewhere, a manager would quietly lose another hour of their life.

But this is 2026.

And things worked differently now.
