Managing access properly is one of the most important responsibilities in a ServiceNow environment. We want users to have the access they need to do their job — but not more than necessary, and not forever.

In many real-world situations, employees need elevated access only for a short time. For example:

  • A developer needs temporary admin access for troubleshooting
  • A support engineer needs a special role during an outage
  • A contractor needs access only during a project period
