What’s new in Quebec ITOM: Predict issues, prevent impact and automate fixes with AIOps

Import · Mar 02, 2021 · article

ITOM Predictive AIOps

Organizations want to be proactive and deal with problems before they popup but they end up being the one chasing the problems around. This is due to manual and legacy processes from disjointed cobbled together tools. AIOps vendors focus on unrealistic goals that force users to invest in expensive projects that require in-house data scientist expertise and heavy customization to get any value.

ITOM Predictive AIOps helps predict issues before they occur, prevent impact to users, and automate fixes to resolve issues quickly. This uses our powerful anomaly detection and log analytics from our Loom Systems acquisition last year. With the Now Platform® the capability expands across ServiceNow including ITSM, DevOps, and other IT Workflow solutions.

Site Reliability Operations

For many organizations, there is a disconnect between the agile and speed approach of DevOps and SREs ---and the operations requirements for monitoring and tracking. SRE teams typically do not follow traditional approaches because they are deemed too slow, so they use different tools and processes that do not integrate well across the operations and service management teams. Being two different teams using different tools and bypassing normal change management processes often causes a major disconnect between DevOps, ITOM, and ITSM.

With Site Reliability Operations, customers have a pre-built integration between ITSM and ITOM which empowers DevOps teams. Users can easily register application services and microservices via the intelligent interfaces. Once the services are registered, SREs can monitor service health and connect to telemetry tools to ensure availability and respond to automated alerts and incidents to resolve issues faster. All of this plus a single system of record. DevOps team gets autonomy and automation they love. SRE teams get the reliability they desire. And IT Operations gets the resilience they need.

Machine Learning for Service Mapping

While every organization understands the value of mapping the individual components to a business service, when using manual approaches, it often takes several IT experts days or weeks to map each individual service one by one. With insufficient mapping of services, IT teams struggle with understanding the business context which negatively impacts the business.

Organizations need to reduce the time to map services, so they are able to get faster value by understanding the business context of services. The mapping allows teams to make intelligent decisions on which component might be causing a problem or understand the magnitude of making changes to configuration items that could impact multiple services.

This reduces the necessity of expert IT staff to manually collect, correlate, and analyze information to build a map. By mapping more services with less time, this improves overall business context and visibility by understanding the components that build a service. In addition, this extends the visibility for more standard and custom applications with multiple approaches. At a high-level, machine learning for service mappings allows teams to map more services in less time with fewer people.
