[Music] hey kyle thanks for taking the time to talk with me today about servicenow emails let's start with a little bit of background of you what is your role here at cerna yeah sure so i'm a senior technical consultant here at cern solutions and i've been focusing a lot on service portal and configuring a wide variety of service portals from simple changes to existing portals to completely custom solutions to support unique customer use cases also focus a lot on custom applications built for the servicenow store and most recently i was part of a group of developers who built the email builder application awesome so email builder if if i have this correct it helps with servicenow notifications and i'm curious for our viewers what is a servicenow notification and why are they helpful servicenow notification is an email template essentially and it determines the branding and content and timing of that email and the idea behind the notification is just to keep employees informed about updates to their tickets tasks inquiries pretty much everything within the service now so a notification is an email template that's right yeah that's correct okay so let's why don't we take a look at what these emails look like in service now so here you can see an example of a servicenow email that was built with the out-of-box notification engine and it as you can tell it doesn't it's pretty simple it doesn't have any customer branding uh and this is mapped to a notification record and for uh customer assistance they might have 200 300 up to you know a few thousand of these notification records and at a certain point becomes very difficult to manage the sheer amount of notification records these templates that you have in servicenow even an application like hrsd one of the most commonly installed servicenow applications has upwards of 200 notification records and it looks like none of these are branded correct yes that is correct what if you can make an email that looks like this this email is built using an application called email builder that we mentioned before and it allows you to reduce a ton of work a thousand clicks to edit emails all down to just one click and that's because we allow users to of the email builder application to edit the styling and the content of their emails all in one place and that will apply to all of your notification records those email templates that we talked about before [Music] you
