Searching the Docs site with Google Chrome's Omnibox

Import · Jun 03, 2016 · article

Just wanted to share this little tip.

If you want to search the docs.servicenow.com documentation site directly from the Google Chrome omnibox (or address bar), simply add a new search engine to Chrome with the following information:

Search engine name: ServiceNow Docs

Keyword: docs (or some other unique keyword)

URL: https://docs.servicenow.com/search?q=%s

image

Now all you need to do is type "docs" in the URL, press the Tab key which would load the new search engine, enter in your search string and press enter to search:

If you want to limit the results to specific versions, you can do that as well by adding version specific entries:

Search engine name: ServiceNow Geneva Docs

Keyword: gdocs

URL: https://docs.servicenow.com/search?q=%s&labels=2

Search engine name: ServiceNow Helsinki Docs

Keyword: hdocs

URL: https://docs.servicenow.com/search?q=%s&labels=3

image

The "&labels=x" parameter specifies the version you are interested in. Now you can type in "gdocs" or "hdocs" to limit the search to information related to Geneva or Helsinki.

Have a good weekend!
