Starting a job | The Employee Experience Imperative

Import · Feb 06, 2020 · video

so Chris we talked about the employee perspective we talked about helping them with their onboarding and making sure that we indicate to them that we care and we do but there are some really big moments that impact employees journey and their perspective about the culture of the company and whether or not they're really committed to that organization and one of those that we struggle with in most companies is the pre onboarding activities because there's a ton it's not just filling out benefit paperwork it crosses the entire ecosystem of an organization it goes across facilities IT finance my warn how do we approach that at service now I know we've worked a lot on that pre-boarding and on the post onboarding like day one new hire orientation a lot of organizations are working on that and that's improving but we're still kind of miss stepping on the pre onboarding and that's really your first impression on whether or not we care so whiny sheds some light about what we've been doing yeah absolutely and I do think the friction pre onboarding leads into that day one experience because instead of day one being all about onboarding and being productive and all those things employees find themselves filling out paperwork right for the first week taking all that mandatory training so it's service now what we try and do is one make that as seamless as possible so the minute someone signs an offer they get an invitation to download our mobile onboarding app and when they download that app they can do a variety of things but I'll summarize into three thinking they can get their tasks done that they need to that includes you know we use the term filling out paperwork there's no more paper right it's a digital document that they're electronically signing that goes back right for all the required reasons around compliance which may be different around the world they can get information get information about the company's culture what's going on at the company that's important you want to know that going in so you feel like you belong you're part of the conversation and get connected right here's here's who your HR business partner is here's your local facilities contact here's your teammates meet them here's their LinkedIn profiles here's their Twitter handle so we want all those things that happen for day one so when they do join day one it's actually day one and they are just ready to go go an orientation and they already know who their team is virtually and they're ready to get work done so that's our approach here and we've seen a number of our customers adopt that and I think it provides a much better productivity ramp into the company [Music]
