New article articles in ServiceNow Community · Jul 29, 2025 · article

Even admins need to reset their authentication sometimes. If you can’t access your Service Now instances, the Yokohama release introduces a new automated workflow for admins in the Service Catalog. This streamlines the process without having to open a case.

First, let’s confirm this quick fix is relevant.

Does the Yokohama MFA Admin Reset Automated Workflow Apply to You?

MFA is enabled by default with the Yokohama release to align with industry standard security. To use the Service Catalog MFA Reset, you must be:

  • The customer_admin or partner_admin role in Now Support (HI) instance
  • Using the Yokohama release or later
  • Attempting to access the non*-*production instance

MFA Reset Process for _admin

  1. Sign into Now Support.
  2. Go to Automation Store > Service Catalog.
  3. Select MFA Reset.
  4. In the Select Instance drop-down, specify pre-production.
  5. Identify the admin from the For who the request is for drop-down menu, enter your User ID.
  6. Select Submit.

That's it!

Once you select Submit, a new change request is created and displayed automatically. You can also add people to the watchlist for notification of the change record.
