During the Performance Analytics and Reporting Office Hours on July 1, we looked at how we can automate testing of dashboards in ServiceNow, specifically focusing on testing custom interactive filters.

Whenever you are developing anything custom in ServiceNow, make sure you include ATF tests. That allows you to sleep easier at night knowing that with a push of a button you can confirm all configurations are working and stay working. Life is easier when you identify any upgrade issues on the first day when you upgrade a sub prod instance compared to hours before you upgrade production or worse after you already upgrade.

Correction(s)

In the demo, I tried to validate success with an "Assert Text on Page (Custom UI)" test step. This failed because it was the incorrect test step. What I needed to use was the "Component Value Validation (Custom UI)" and validate that the text in the debug filter was exactly what was expected.
