Getting started with quick start tests
this video shows how to install copy and configure QuickStart test Suites on your instance you can skip to any of these topics from the YouTube description for this video QuickStart tests are pre-built ATF tests that help make sure your instance is working after you make any updates such as applying an upgrade or developing an app you can modify and update these tests to reflect any configuration changes and data specific to your instance to see which applications or features have quick start tests and what releases they're available for check out the product documentation QuickStart suites are installed with the plugins of the feature their testing like this one some plugins may be activated already and others may need to be activated with the feature refer to this page to see which plugins to activate let's say you want to use the change management test suite just go to the plugins module and search for the change management ATF tests plug-in if it's not already installed ask your system administrator to install the plug-in on your instance next navigate to QuickStart Suites to see a list of all installed test Suites for each application QuickStart tests is the parent suite for all QuickStart test Suites from the parent suite we can see all the child suites when we open the change management test suite we see all the tests for that application this filter pulls in all the tests that have this prefix and are read-only any new tests matching this condition will automatically be added to this suite notice that the suite is not active so we can't run it also the suite supplied with the product is read-only so we can't change it to make changes we need to make a copy and then change the copy and here we see the suite is in the change management scope but we're in the global scope we need to switch to the change management scope so the copy is in the same scope as the original now we can copy the test suite we'll click copy test suite and confirm that we've activated any required demo data plugins when we open the copy we can see it's active and editable now we can modify the tests let's modify one of these copied tests convert emergency to normal this test in search a change request record and then updates the type to emergency let's say the justification field becomes mandatory when a user sets the type to emergency we can update the test to reflect this customization to do this we modify the step that sets the type to emergency to also set the justification field to impacting performance once we save it will go back to the test where we see that our changes were applied to the step we'll click run test and view the progress in the client test runner [Music] when it's finished we'll go to the results to verify that the modified test passed you might have to modify multiple tests in the suite to match your customizations for more information see our product documentation knowledgebase or podcast or ask a question in the ServiceNow community [Music] you
