Quick start tests | Overview
This video provides an overview of quick start
tests for the Automated Test Framework. Automated testing provides a way to validate
that your instance still works after any changes,... …such as after an upgrade, … …or when you’re configuring an application. You can jump start your automated testing development by using quick start tests, part of the Automated Test Framework. Quick start tests are ready-to-use tests built by ServiceNow developer teams and available in the base system. You access the tests in your instance from
the Quick Start Suites menu item. Some are available in the base system, and
others require installation via plugins. Let’s look at some use cases. For service catalog, you can test adding a few items to the shopping cart in the Service portal as a requestor, … …and then opening and validating the request in the portal as a fulfiller. For Customer Service Management, you can test creating an order case as a customer from the Customer Service Portal. To use quick start tests, you copy and customize as needed to reflect any configuration changes you’ve made. You can copy an entire test suite,... ... or individual quick start tests. Before you run the test, you might need to modify it to match your own configuration for that business process. The next video in our series shows you how. Then run the modified test with data appropriate
to your own business logic. Available since the Madrid release, the number of quick start tests increases with each subsequent release. With more than 500 total quick start tests
available in Orlando, … …you’ll spend less time developing tests from scratch, and fully automate your testing sooner. To see what‘s available for your release,... ... navigate to the list of available quick start tests in the product documentation. In our next video, we show you how to get
started with quick start tests. For more information, see our product documentation,
knowledge base, or podcast. Or ask a question in the ServiceNow Community.
