[Music] i am a project manager i need people who can work on my projects but they don't work with me how do i request resources from another team a resource plan located in the itbm resource management application is a form used by project managers to request resources for their projects resource plans are the key element in resource management to create a resource plan you'll need to know which resource group role or user to request the start date and the end date if the plugin ppm standard is activated in your instance and you're assigned the resource user role you can create a resource plan for your project how do you create a resource plan let's open our project there are two places to review and request resources under the details tab where you'll find a sub-resources area or in the resources tab before we create a resource plan we can see if there is any availability from the resource finder we'll create a resource plan from here and request one full-time resource from the architects group your request can include specific members or skills we'll leave those areas blank but in the notes area we'll mention a particular person we've worked with before the auto populated dates are based on the project timeline we don't need an architect for the whole project so we'll change the dates to include only two months then request our resource plan is now in the requested state so the resource manager can review and fulfill the request we are not able to make any changes the fields are read only [Music] if we go to the requested allocations tab we see two line items for the single resource request one line item per month requested we can also see the planned cost which is calculated from the hourly rate assigned to the group what if we need to make a change to the request to make a resource plan change select request change what this does is take ownership of the request away from the resource manager and gives ownership to the project manager let's push out the start date we don't need a resource starting the project on a friday then request how do we track the resource costs when we made a resource request a cost plan was automatically created we can see it under the cost plan tab to use resource management to request a resource for your project go to the project workspace and create a resource plan for more information see our product documentation knowledge base or podcast or ask a question in the servicenow community
