Everyday Xplore - Open With Xplore vs ShowXML
hey everyone welcome back to my channel it is so good to have you here earlier this year i made a video about how show xml is the administrative x-ray specs for servicenow but today i wanted to show you how using explore can be even faster or more powerful so here's a setup you're on a list of records and you want to get to grips with one of them how do you do it show xml right let's right-click the record and [Music] looks like there's no show xml when you're looking at a record in a list well i guess you could do show xml from the list and then look for it in the output you could also open the record itself and then go all the way up to the header bar right click and oh man go all the way down this list or with explorer i can go to whatever record i want in the list right click open record in explore that's way faster and more convenient time for a sip of delicious ground shark coffee now let's click the run button the results you get are essentially the same as if you've done a show xml but they present way better but not only that you can filter the objects by their type i'm currently showing everything now i've got nothing and i'm going to show the reference fields the boolean fields anything that's an object in and of itself anything that's numeric and go back to all the other great thing about doing it this way is that you're primed for more exploratory programming here's the javascript that explorer used to interrogate the object i wonder what this incident's caller's manager's name is i'm just going to pop in a quick gs.info and we're going to output the gr records caller ids managers get display value let's run that and we see that it is robert fedoric open in explore is just one of the many ways explore makes life easier for builders on servicenow if you'd like to sponsor this channel's content email me at the address pictured here if you need a conversation on where your servicenow implementation is or where it's going you can reach me on superpeers and book a short consult if you want to contribute to high quality high frequency output consider a donation if not i still appreciate your viewership consider hitting the like button and sharing within your network thanks for watching
