I had to make a lot of Variables to a Record Producer, and then just discovered this Feature in ServiceNow. From System Definition - Tables, you can make a Record Producer from a Table. It makes all the Variables, with the correct type, references etc. Brilliant 
It might have been there for long, but I did not know, and I have just saved a lot of hours.
