What’s it Like?: Black at Now Belonging Group
my family moved from uh dayton in the inner city to miamisburg the suburbs there were still racist signs at the railroad tracks no blacks allowed after dark i can tell you once i left home it was a full-on education in what racism is having to deal with racism in the communities that i lived in i used to hide it i used to mask i've done so much code switching it's ridiculous and i'm fortunate that servicenow is a place that says okay cool all right pascal bring it on how we started implementing dibs diversity inclusion belonging i think that is the best thing that this company could have done so with me being the co-chair of black it now i want to make sure everyone has a voice and that they are hurt i like different and i like being in groups that are willing to approach and push the envelopes i like to see full acceptance and everyone has an equal voice and everyone's taken seriously we have had to have a lot of uncomfortable conversations around the idea of racial injustice how that impacts how i show up every day how it impacts my mental health everyone should feel like they belong and that they're included this is a journey it's going to take all of us to make dibs a success i think servicenow is very much committed to ensuring that they recruit retain and promote the best talent and also to have a particular focus on some of our minority groups which is incredible i'm a black american patient descent i'm a veteran i am a father i am a son i am a brother i am a human it's really important that we continue to have a dialogue around how we can ensure that the future is diverse is inclusive and creates a sense of safe belonging for everyone that is what i'm passionate about that's what i try to do in my work and i'm so proud that servicenow is a place that allows me to flourish
