[Music] my name is zach sargent i'm an outbound product manager for itom optimization product today i want to go over a little feature that just came out in our latest release of cloud insights unused machines you might miss it if you weren't familiar with what we're doing cloud insights it's a it's a pretty minor tweak but it's important so you see here we had right sizing already in the product unused takes that a little bit further so what you want to do is set up tracking for memory metrics so we can really tell with greater certainty have a high confidence that this machine is not being used and if we're sure of all of these little details then we can take it out of commission we can take it out of service and save a little bit of money so here you can see our reporting on what happens if we were to take these things out so if i look at recommendations let's say i just pick a couple of these reward processing items because i know that we don't need them anymore because we're done with that promotion let's say and i click here to schedule a job that's going to take them down so here that schedule job we'll call end of promotion and the action is going to be terminate now i could terminate and delete the storage but let's say that you know in this particular case i'm just really looking to take them out of play to keep them off the bill i can just power them off and power them off and make sure that you know nothing crazy is happening but for this particular case i'm going to terminate and delete storage i know hey that that promo was over months ago we shouldn't have anything on here anymore let's go ahead and terminate that whole thing and this is manual approval so manual approval means we're going to create a change record so inside a service now i'll show you what that looks like i could also auto approve this so if i have administrative privileges and this is a good match then i can auto approve the change it'll create a change record still but it may go ahead with the automation and terminate these machines so here we're going to go through the manual process once that's submitted i'm going to go over to scheduled recommendations so here we start to get into servicenow's value add on this product space we're not just making the recommendation of this is a machine that you could shut down we're also helping you to manage this change process so you can see here we have a change ticket number and these are in progress of being shut down or being deleted so this is what our customers told us they had difficulty with not necessarily understanding which machines were gone but who owned them what the life cycle process was to take them off the books and then just following through here we have declined recommendations in this particular tab you would see things that we decided humans decided not to shut down maybe it was a batch processing engine and we decided we need that to do batch processing a recorder it's not really something like that i can also add that to excluded resources later completed recommendations these are the ones that actually go through all the automation we get them all shut down and they are removed from the building and finally we have failed recommendations if we're going to make automated recommendations and processes that take things out we need a way to handle the exceptions to that automatic process and this is where you're going to find those exceptions so hopefully this is a useful tool of a new feature just a just a quick little video for you to wet your appetite so to speak thanks for watching
