Introduction - Learn Integrations on the Now Platform
[Music] welcome to learn integrations on the now platform my name is chuck tomasi and i'm a senior developer advocate with servicenow i've been writing software since the early 80s and servicenow has been a major part of my software solution set since about 2008. one of my favorite things to do has always been to connect systems together and exchange information to create solutions and add value in effect making one plus one equal three so i'm very excited to bring you this series to help you get more from your investment through integrations our ceo bill mcdermott refers to servicenow as the platform of platforms and in this series i'll walk you through various methods of importing and exporting data with the now platform to coordinate and orchestrate work across your enterprise in this series you'll learn how to prepare and plan for a new integration different methods for importing and exporting data exploring solutions provided by servicenow and creating your own and we'll also cover integration best practices to avoid performance problems and technical debt now i recognize that integrations is a big topic so i'll break it down into manageable parts for each major topic each part contains individual episodes on that topic and the major parts in this series are getting started import sets email web services integration hub exporting and pre-built services to clarify the scope of this series we won't be covering details about integrating to specific services for example how do i create an integration of my phone system or vendor x ticketing system we'll cover the concepts methods and the tools you need to build your own assuming something doesn't already exist this series does make some assumptions it assumes you've been through the servicenow fundamentals course have a certified system administrator cert or at least six months of experience administering the now platform you should also know the basics of javascript you don't have to be a computer science major but you should be comfortable with the basics while every integration may not require scripting it's good to know for those cases where you'll need it if you need more experience before going through this series i have a few resources for you first take the servicenow fundamentals and scripting in servicenow courses at nowlearning.servicenow.com second get a free personal developer instance and follow the learning plans at developer.servicenow.com third check out the video series learn javascript on the now platform by yours truly to get comfortable with javascript that's also at developer.servicenow.com for your information this series was built on the paris release which became available in september twenty twenty many concepts apply to older releases and some new features will be available after this series is published my plan is to keep adding delta videos to this series with each release so you can stay up to date it's my sincerest hope that you'll find this series valuable and enjoyable if you're ready let's move on to the first part getting started
