hey i'm rob fedorick and it's time to go exploring with explore hey everyone welcome back to my channel i'm robert fedorick it is so good to have you here his excellency king james neal has released a new version of explorer and it is my honor as the duke and his herald to show off some of its excellent new features feature one embedded release notes just one click away after you open the app sweet now you don't have to watch the rest of this video but you will watch the rest of this video you will watch the rest of this video you will like this video you will share this video feature number two link recognition check this out i've had explore return an incident object and here i am looking at it and i see the assigned to his assist id which links to the cis user jane worker explore living up to its name by letting me explore data i have returned from my scripts feature number three script history i love this feature because i used to store scripts that i wasn't done working with in text files like a pleb but the real insane bit is that if you had user data in your script that gets stored as well along with the script type and scope preference don't know how user data works in explorer keep your eye up here for a link to the tutorial now if you're like me and you can't tell your scripts by the date you ran them on or the first few lines of the script here's a little hack for you explore stores those scripts in user preferences so i just made myself a quick little list to get my user preferences and what you can do is you can go to the value of the script that you ran and then go right to the end where you see the name property and change the name now you've successfully changed the name of the script in script history do a quick refresh ah yeah feature number four function hoisting we're getting way into the realm of the master javascribe but explore used to need you to declare all functions before you could call them when you enable function hoisting explorer does all that nonsense for you in the background in this script i'm calling the function but defining the function farther down and it works perfectly you can see that it's returned bar in the output hoisting is off by default so be sure to go to the settings and turn it on if you want to use it feature 5 logs look i've only got time to run mickey mouse scripts here but when you're playing in the big leagues your script can be putting stuff in the system log the application log or generating events or emails or outbound requests explore 4.8 provides you greater contextual access to those logs no more jumping around between half a dozen tabs so if you don't have explore check out the description below for how to download it also check the videos linked at the end of this video for how to install it and learn all the other awesome features that make explorer the most downloaded app in servicenow history thanks for watching if you'd like to sponsor this channel's content email me at the address pictured here if you need a conversation on where your servicenow implementation is or where it's going you can reach me on super peers and book a short consult if you want to contribute to high quality high frequency output consider a donation if not i still appreciate your viewership consider hitting the like button and sharing within your network thanks for watching
