When configuring email or troubleshooting email notifications, the Mail Properties page is the place to start. This special page lists all email properties and offers diagnostics and troubleshooting hints. So for example, if your instance is not sending or receiving email, visiting the Mail Properties page might help you figure out why and point you to information about how to resolve the issue.
