How to Identify and Resolve Probe and Sensor Version Conflicts

Import · Jun 29, 2015 · article

To facilitate troubleshooting probe-sensor version conflicts, the ServiceNow platform provides major and minor version fields, starting with the Fuji release. A major version change is a change in the expected output of a probe. A minor version change is a small change that does not impact the result or the processing of the data.

In collaboration with Joshua Gerbasi and Chris Nguyen, the Multimedia Team recently published this video, which explains a common cause of probe-sensor version conflicts that occur following an upgrade, and demonstrates how to identify and resolve these conflicts.

To perform the actions shown in this video, the admin role is required.

Notes:

  • Only major Discovery-related probe-sensor version conflicts appear in the Discovery Dashboard.
  • Minor version conflicts can be logged by setting a Discovery Definition property.
  • It is a good practice to resolve minor version conflicts, even though they don't interfere with processing of data.
