Migrate knowledge articles from v2 to v3 very easily

Import · Sep 12, 2016 · article

A you may have found out, there is no easy way to migrate your knowledge articles from version 2 to version 3. You have to do it manually which is not practical for large number of articles or you may use a background script which still requires lots of manual labor as you have to manually build an array of the articles to migrate. As a result, I built a record producer that will do this very easily by letting you choose your destination KB, Category, optional configurations, and a list of articles.

This has been tested on the following release of SN product.

  • Helsinki - Patch 2: no errors or conflicts. Everything works as expected
  • Geneva Patch 6 Hot Fix 2: No errors or conflicts. However, reference qualifier on List Collector (LC) is not available on Geneva. If you want to render your LC with the same filter as I have set on Helsinki, simply use an onLoad client script. There are a few examples available on the community by others.
  • Fuji Patch 13 Hot Fix 1: No errors or conflicts. Similar to Geneva, no reference qualifier on LC.

Download the attached update set and try it for yourself. Report here if you find any bugs.

* As a best practice, please make sure you test this fully in your sub-production instances before performing it on your production instance.

* I have made some updates and enhancements. Please use this latest version if you have already downloaded the previous version.
